Yours is the best commentary on those guys.
I'm afraid to say this because I was recently accused of being bigoted against Germans, but I don't understand what Schadenfreude means. I know the dictionary definition, but will somebody please help me out?
Perhaps an example would help. Suppose you are a NY Mets fans. You are living in the same city as Yankee fans, who have been reveling in their team's success since the days of Ruth and Gehrig. Last year, the Mets finished way out of the playoffs in the National League. The Yankees won their American League East championship, knocked off the Twins in the next round, and led the Boston Red Sox 3 games to zip en route to yet another American League pennant. Then, suddenly, the invincible Mariano Rivera gives up some key runs, and the Red Sox battle back to win Game 4. They proceed to win the next 3 games and thus become the first baseball team to win any post-season series after trailing 3 games to none. The joy that a Mets fan felt at the misery that the Yankees and their fans felt can best be described as Schadenfreude.
I don't understand what Schadenfreude means
I'm in the same boat as you on that one.
