Kick the can
That was my personal fav. We would have played all night, had our parents not called us in after 10:00pm for making too much noise.
Ding-dong-ditch-it
We called it Ring & Run. And there was a slightly different version, called "I Did it", where we'd tell a new kid to kneel on someone's front steps, close their eyes and say, "I did it" 100 times, after which he/she would try to find us -- just like tag. Of course, what really happened was that we'd ring the bell and leave the poor kid kneeling on the porch. Kinda mean, in retrospect, but we thought it was a hoot! ;o)

I remember in the mid seventies all the kids in our neighborhood would play "manhunt" on summer nights. Sort of like team hide and seek but with geographic bounderies like the creek, lake and road. It seemed like the summers were endless in those days.
