BABES OF COUNTRY MUSIC
Deliverance ^ | 11/04 | staff

Posted on 05/18/2005 7:35:18 AM PDT by pissant

I caught CMT's 20 Sexiest Women of County Music over the weekend. My radar for shows like that is almost fail-safe. There was some excellent photography and video in that show. Actually, that's a lie. I don't know if there was or not; I was too focused on the ladies. I was just trying to sound PC.

I've made my own top 10 list of country babes, driven my OCD for lists and dirty old man syndrome (as usual).

I don't have a lot of disagreement with their list but I do have some. I'll withhold most of my usual salacious comments. Here's my top 10 list:

10. Jennifer Hansen--newcomer but moving up fast

9. Julie Roberts--another newcomer and a rare blonde on my list

8. Martina McBride--the eyes have it, no question about it

7. Shania Twain--CMT's number one and certainly deserving

6. Sheryl Crow--she's good enough for Lance and that's good enough for me

5. Lari White--a short appearance at the end of Castaway with Tom Hanks grabbed my attention. She's got that girl next door look.

4. Chely Wright--she's got a lot of different looks and everyone of them sexy and beautiful

3. Deana Carter--one of the few blondes on the list and I love her bare feet among other things

2. Sara Evans--stunning dark haired, dark eyed beauty with a little bit of country look, she's h-o-t!

1. Faith Hill--still numero uno even after marriage and children. Oh dear god, I would have liked to have been those satin sheets in Breathe for just 1 minute.

UPDATE: I left out Amy Grant. She gets an honorable mention. I've lusted loved her for years.

What's funny is Gretchen is from Chicago Illinois? Did not know there were any Rednecks there?

Thank you. Gretchen grew up living the songs she now sings. Pure country.

I love Trisha Yearwood's voice (plus, she looks like a normal woman ;)) and yes, she and Garth are dating. My guess is they'll get married in a few years (maybe after his kids are grown).

And NO one sounds as good as Patsy Cline! Dear lord, she could make rocks cry.

One of the sweetest, prettiest voices that I like is Dolly Parton.

She did look quite hot last nite. Plus she just had her 3rd baby a couple months ago, if I recall.

Well, out of your list I think some of the GoGos I agree with. The rest are yikes, IMO. Some, like Marianne and Grace were pretty for about 2 years before the ravages of booze & drugs took over.

I agree with the first four. Good loocking rocker chicks are rare. Would Christinea Aguilara qualify in a slutty sort of way?

Since when have Amy Grant and Sheryl Crow been country music singers?

She's been playing in a room on a strip
For ten years in Vegas
Every night she looks in the mirror
But she only ages
She's been reading about Nashville and all
The records that everybody's buying
Says 'I'm a simple girl myself
Grew up on Long Island'
So she packs her bags to try to her hand
Says this might be my last chance

She's gone country, look at then boots
She's gone country, but to her roots
She's gone country, a new kind of suit
She's gone country, here she comes

Well the folk scene is dead
But he's holding out in the village
He's been writing songs speaking out
Against wealth and privilege
He says 'I dont believe in money
But a man could make him a killin'
Cause some of that stuff dont sound
Much different than Dylan
I hear down there it's changed you see
They're not as backwards as they used to be

He's gone country, look at then boots
He's gone country, but to her roots
He's gone country, a new kind of suit
He's gone country, here he comes

He commutes to LA
But he's got a house in the valley
But the bills are piling up
And the pop scene just aint on the rally
He says 'Honey I'm a serious composer
Schooled in voice and composition
But with the crime and the smog these days
This aint no place for children
Lord it sounds so easy it shouldnt take long
Be back in the money in no time at all'

He's gone country, look at then boots
He's gone country, but to her roots
He's gone country, a new kind of suit
He's gone country, here he comes
Yeah he's gone country, a new kind of walk
He's gone country, a new kind of talk
He's gone country, look at them boots
He's gone country, oh back to his roots

He's gone country
He's gone country
Everybody's gone country
Yeah we've gone country
The whole world's gone country

Best voice (and eyes!) - Martina, any day!

Best voices? Martina & Alison. I melt to Alison's voice. But Martina can belt it out. I heard her sing the National Anthem a couple of years ago at the Rose Bowl Parade. I was floored!

Ever notice how country music has way better looking girls then rock? Kind of unfair if you ask me

I don't think so. The girls of rock just kinda fit the music they sing. Junk. So, they look like junk yard dogs.

Kinda fair if you ask me.

Faith is the product of multiple surgeries. She looks very little like when she started the falsification of her looks.

I have all Patsy Cline's Great Tunes! your right she can sing and make a rock cry!..
Your right about Trisha Yearwood she is so much more than Shania Twain and deserves alot more recognition than what she has recieved!

Did you see last night on CMT everyone was wearing Jeans!

Martina I like, she has punch and power and volume.

But there is a musical quality lacking (not that she's bad) where a human voice sounds more like music than a voice.

Not quite opera, but you get the point. Like Charlotte Church or the late Ofra Haza...or Patsy Cline ;)

Shania is the Mariah Carey of Country music (moderate talent but high ambition-- if you marry the boss, BOOM! you're a star!) Plus, she ain't country. If you live in Switzerland you lose some creditials. ;)

Worst of all she has a 'forgetable' voice that is generic.
I heard a song on the radio the other day and it was like "hmmm Shania? Joe Dee Messina?" Turned out it was a third chick who's new and I forget her name.
