Foundation trilogy.

Is that really cinematic though? The Mathematicians are at war with the Statisticians! Throw in Robert Silverburg as someone who's not gotten the cinematic adaptations he deserves.

Foundation trilogy.

Everything of Asimov's that Hollywood touches turns to sludge. C3PO faintly resembles one of Asimov's prissy robots, and of course Asimov is the most famous author to write about a galactic empire modeled after Rome, featuring a secretive society of priests that make it work, and a mind reading mutant who tries to take control.

Ah, the Foundation trilogy. My introduction to Science Fiction as it was intended to be written. But stop after the first three books - resist the temptation to keep adding to the story.

Foundation trilogy.

Not just the trilogy- the whole thing, including Pebble in the Sky and Caves of Steel.
