In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Dodgeball Day!
Subbie Slip has given her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs to xs today.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.
Was just surfing the thread while watching TV with mrsgwmoore, and noted that small flame war erupted re money/finances/cks/etc. I just got my butt chewed out by the aforesaid mrsgwmoore for purchasing another "toy" (actually several) since I hold a C&R FFL and am a Collector of Curios and Relics, O-Fish-UL by the BATFE, etc. I couldn't resist an 1873 Springfield .45-70 Trapdoor, a 1903-A3 Springfield in .30-06 with the rare rear peep sight, and a modern 12GA "slug gun" of which I had to do the "instant ck" and yellow sheet, since my C&R doesn't cover the newly manufactured firearms. I,having reverted to my "X-games" persona, thought the "slug gun looked cool" with the mil-dot scope, and heavy barrel, looks like an M-79 "thumper", and gwmoore lost his "grounding" for a few tics.....
I have just had to receive a long lecture concerning "Why the hell would you spend money on those "guns" with recoil that will put you in a wheelchair??? " I hope you're pleased with yourself", and various other statements to bring gwmoore back down from his past adrenozoic thought plateau... she then dropped the Nuclear Option "GW, you are NOT in Vietnam anymore, nor are you in your 20's and I don't believe there is any real possibility of WWIII or "The Day After" occurring in the next week or so. You are not going to have to make "the last stand" at our home" YOU ARE DISABLED. DEAL WITH IT"
I again, had no lucid response LOL....I couldn't even bear to explain the improper use of the word "guns"..and simply replied "Why, hon, it's an investment, these never lose any value [huge collector grin]. Ok things are back to normal, but the ever vigilant mrsgwmoore made sure she called me up short on things financial, even if they were a gold plated investment, sure to maintain, and increase in value. I still plan to shoot these fine weapons, once I am assured the final CStainlessteel is fully integrated into my infrastructure. It is, obviously, stronger than the original material, and able to take far more stress..... next up, the push to obtain an AR-50 in .50BMG as a Barrett is somewhat out of reach at this time, and would severely displease mrsgwmoore.
Anyone have any good ideas for justifying an AR-50? heheheheh [conspiratorial leer] It would be a wonderful addition to the gwmoore collection of fine firearms..
Greg
LOL.
oh and xshub got his just desserts for the impromptu invitation, bc the storm struck right as he had put the teriyaki chicken on the grill... and he had to risk life and limb to monitor it...
and both halves of the couple apologized profusely, knowing that xshub had extended the invitation without me being present. it worked out very well and i am glad they came.
Oh, man. LOL. Revenge from heaven.
hee-hee.........
Glad you had a good time.
I'm so glad it all worked out well and that your family and theirs share common views. Imagine the horror of being stuck for hours with a liberal couple-I'd either be in a padded room or jail in an hour or less.
By the way, I just howled when I read about xshub grilling the chicken teriyaki in the storm-talk about divine retribution...
Morning! I've got a funny story related to the water company/HOA battle to share-
Last night at the restaurant, we had just sat down at the table our neighbors had claimed for us when my realtor friend and her husband walked in the door. Since everyone is acquainted, we pulled up two more chairs and they joined us. The realtor and I told hubby's co-worker's wife all about the sale of the house to the couple with the 4 horrid kids and the falls churcher neighbor from hell, and she really got a laugh out of that. My realtor friend's husband told us about an encounter she had last week with a boatload of 4 male employees from the water company we were in court with a couple of weeks ago, who disembarked on their dock and thought to come snooping on their waterfront-probably because she was one of the people who gave damaging testimony about them under oath at the hearing.
It seems that she came out of the house brandishing a cell phone and confronted them, threatening to have them arrested for trespassing, calling them worthless assh***s and other things and apparently frightening one of them so badly by yelling right in his face that he stepped back hastily, slipped on some loose rocks and went sliding halfway down the cliff toward the water on his knees. Then she added insult to injury by offering to call EMS for him when she saw that he was rubbing his knee and looking pained-he declined and they got back in their boat and left in haste. Her hubby said he was sure that upon returning to their office, they gave the reason for not snooping there as being confronted by a raging madwoman in a muu muu and bare feet who attempted to shove one of them over the cliff to his death-she is 5'2" and weighs maybe 105 soaking wet...
"slap myself on the head with a 2X4"
And it would be much less painful than whatever your wife would (rightly) inflict on you, too...
That battle of yours is a never ending source of amusement ;)
all the fun stuff happens down by you! that story is hilarious! how did she know that they were water co. employees? falls churcher from hell describes just about all of them.... LOL! ; )
had he pulled the stunt the day before, there would likely have been bloodshed. yesterday i was calmer and all i could do was look at him incredulously and just laugh that he would have the b@!!s to have done it. he literally has never done anything like it in his life. after the food was ready to go, and the STORM had started (we intended to eat outside, of course)the POWER WENT OFF FOR A MINUTE... but then came back on. it was pretty funny, all told.
I trust he is being dutifully repentent?
are you kidding? xshub, repentant? no. between the deluge of rain, the storm, power flickering etc. it was perfectly obvious that it was an ERROR to have opened his yap. but they are very nice people, and we had a great time. i don't mind entertaining, really, but we had just not had anyone over in forever, it always seems more work than i want to be bothered doing. The thing is i have so much stuff left over, i need to have someone else come over today to help eat it.
ROFL!!!!!!!!!
I offered to go over and eat leftover barbecue after Lillie's birthday bash. (I normally cook Sunday dinner for my daughter and son-in law.) I could hear S-I-L in the background as he understood the purpose of my call, "Seventy Bucks! Tell her we charge $70.00 a plate for that stuff..." (I think I am starting to like that boy.)
I actually ate thirds on the BBQ during the NFL draft and "helped" them drink the party beer that is not S-I-L's brand. I try to be as much help as possible to the kids...
they "helped" you by eating plenty plenty at your house up until fairly recently as i recall, turnabout IS fairplay : )
You probably deserved it :)
