Sorry, doesn't sound like someone who's looking for immediate help to me. If she wanted that she's have asked a lawyer or a friend. And why the private mail ? Why not just answer the questions if she really wanted help ? These are not rationalizations, they're honest questions.

Then educate her as to the proper role of the fedgov. I told her that in response to her freepmail - that she had my sympathy, but it wasn't the fedgov's responsibility to crack down here.
However, we had people disparaging this person for getting knocked up and wanting the dad to pay - as if she were some single woman who got pregnant from a one-night stand.
Apparently, the fact that this person doesn't understand the concept of federalism (which a majority of Americans do not) gives folks here license to make light of a very difficult personal situation that she's in and question her morals. And then we wonder why our message doesn't have a broader appeal.
