Word For The Day, Friday, May 6, 2005

May 6, 2005, Friday

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow I’m bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

IT’S COMMANDO FRIDAY!

PECCANT

Adjective
Etymology: Latin, peccans, peccant – present participle of peccare, “to sin.”
Pronunciation:pe/caent
1) Sinful, guilty.
2) Violating a rule or accepted practice; erring.

Peccancy=noun; peccantly=adjective

Thank you again, Arghie! You’re making it rough for me to give you quadruple F minuses.

You're becoming CRS. It's okay. Happens all the time.

As long as you are still here, no regrets are necessary. We all have CRS. What photo?

May 6th 2005 is posited “No Pants Friday”. This peccant posturing is particularly prurient.

I see London. I See France. I see someone's Underpants!

How's that for a playground platitude!

Simba only gets a two-inch space in the window next to me. Although he has managed to make that space big enough to get out, the Big Ole Cat leaps right back in the window when he sees me coming after him.

Training, great training. LOL!

I was gratified that the military court deemed the young Marine not peccant in his shooting of the Iraqi insurgent in the mosque.

A desire to be peccant
and wanting some action
made the bride-to-be truant,
and her tennies made traction.
She believed all the versions
about Vegas and vice
cast her aspersions
and prob'ly rolled dice
crapped out on sevens
and slept with whomever
awoke at eleven
and shrugged, "yeah, whatever"

She made up a whopper
to rival McPherson
flew a non-stopper
back home, now is fearsome.
Now what, you may ask
makes her seem slightly miffed?
That gordian task
of returning those gifts.

ok, that sounds like it could be a song by Cake. it has the same cadence as Going the Distance ; )

oh Jan24th, i could have used your help last night with xsteen's poetery paper. she had to do an explication (term of art, one i had NEVER heard in my life til she came home with it) on A.E.Housman's To An Athlete Dying Young. i have trouble breathing and want to run screaming from the room when she asks for my help with this crap. i can see no meaning other than the obvious, surface meaning, and writing about poetry is WAY beyond me. i want sophomore English to be OVER!!!!!

Daring and brave,
the peccant Mr. Kerry,
flipping around,
flopped on gay marriage.
What penace will they make him pay,
the DNC,
with it's agenda so gay,
and it's tolerance so low
for those who sin
against the values they set?

Surely a higher penance
than the priest gives him
when he takes communion
while voting for abortion rights.

See, CRS comes and goes.

Lovely photo of you, Marteen.

Only six showers. Come on, you know eight or ten showers are norm in the South.
