In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.
Noun
Pronunciation: Thaw/my/turd . Oh, excuse me. Thaw/my/turj.
Etymology: [Greek thaumatourgos : thauma, thaumat-, wonder + ergon, work; see werg- in Indo-European Roots.]
1) A performer of miracles or magic feats.
Thank you, Arghie!!!
Thanks to everyone who told me about CRS. I hope you don't get mad when I ask again next month, and the month after that and... ;)
well Catholic school works equally well. at least HERE it does. don't know about your diocese!
my mom made me keep my hair short as well, and so i have tried to be accomodating of the kids own desires, witness xsboy's longish hair, which i cut only as required for school rules. so i can see why you went overboard with keeping it long.
good afternoon
they closed so many Catholic schools here that is boggles the mind. we still have an elementary one through fifth grade in the county.
(Robt looks around innocently....)
Tries to count sentences in Arghie's post ... Loses track of lemons (and limies) rolling around in Whyisa's kitchen....
good day to you, sir : )
just trying out a new taglne
Tell you what again?
:0)
today's topic was what current day issues do you think should be positively implemented by the Church, or negatively dealt with by the Church. xsteen and i discussed it and we couldn't think of a single POSITIVE thing from today's culture, and had a zillion negatives. Xsteen's answer today was the Church should deal with moral relativism.... Caroline Matthews answer... we should be more accepting of and understanding of HOMOSEXUALITY.... and again, once she heard xsteen's answer acted all perplexed and said, wait, i don't understand....
xsteen is taking pleasure in just making a small stab every day, at making a conservative point in that religion class. she is the ONLY conservative in it.
Thanks, Miss Slip!
i went to public school and i think there are areas of the country where it is still possible to go and not have it be a horrible experience. i have nieces and nephews in public school in OH and it has been fine. In the DC area, with the atmosphere of political correctness, it would be IMPOSSIBLE.
Good for her.
so true....you can be a deacon even.
xsteen delights in knowing that caroline has to dispute every single point that xsteen makes, she gets a HUGE charge out of it. and she has commented that the points that caroline makes are NEVER backed up with fact or authority, but are always the "I FEEL" kind of answers.
some kick-ass parenting you got going on there!
I suppose one could be.

... Arghie elbow's the ObGyn aside, tries to look into Jan's symbologyn smiley face.
thanks, i feel like we have to break it down into soundbites though. i told xsteen no one in that class other than she herself and the teacher know what moral relativism is (She felt on the spot and said she wasn't particularly articulate in explaining what it was). i said that it would have been good to have that explained, bc NO ONE in the class has run into moral relativism, it isn't being discussed at Visitation, their PARENTS sure aren't talking about it, and they aren't watching The Oreilly Factor or other Fox news shows which discuss it, so they truly are clueless, bc there would be nowhere for them to have encountered it.
