"Cold Case" goes way over the line in anti-Christian programming.
It seems to me that more and more the broadcast media is in a frenzy, with more of the programming attacking Christians and conservatives, not to mention President Bush and his administration. "Cold Case" in particular is on the front lines of promoting the gay agenda, with many of their stories about a gay hero or victim.
I know a lot of you don't watch the MSM programming, but I like to see what is being spoon-fed to a very large percentage of the population, and it ain't good.
Laughter and ridicule is the beginning of marginalization and persecution.
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
"Cold Case" is poorly acted and has weak scripts.
CBS itself is the personification of an Anti-Christain frenzy. I've blocked them out years ago.

That's why I don't watch MSM programming. 99% of it is garbage.
Tv drama is simplistic and needs an "other" to demonize as the villain to be caught within the half-hour or hour format. Mormons qualify as "others" because they are easily identifiable for their lifestyles and their numbers are still small enough in the US to not affect ratings much should they be offended.
Besides religion, there aren't that many "others" to point out as different: can't use race, sexual orientation, Arabic, women, national origin or status of presence in the country without having powerful interests jump down your throats. So religion is attractive and all religions (except maybe Muslim) are targeted on the regular basis by the "entertainment industry".
Hanging together and objecting to all religious bashing is probably the best way to counter this. Don't know if the religions can get together long enough to become a media-watchdog special interest but if we did, it would be powerful and you would see Hollywood searching for some other powerless "other".
Many people don't consider anti-Mormon to be anti-Christian.
Mormons get "bashed" by both the left and the right, although they are largely a conservative lot, politically speaking.
The left hates us because we oppose abortion, gay marriage, and stand up for morality. We get criticised because Mormon-majority communities successfully drive out strip-club, porn shops, and other vice-connected businesses. We even limit liquor licenses. This makes our communities nice places to live.
The Christian Right criticizes us largely on the basis of ignorance or religious intolerance, although there are increasing signs of cooperation. We worked with a number of religious charities and relief agencies to offer humanitarian relief in the hundreds of millions of dollars over the past decade. Our critics are largely uninformed, so we do our best to be open and get the word out on the work that is done. Our numbers can be effective when joined to the efforts of other Christians in combatting the spreading influences of vice in their communities.
There are legitimate doctrinal differences between Mormon and traditional Christian denominations, which can and should be discussed reasonably and rationally. I'm encouraged by the increasing frequency of symposia and other forums for these discussions.
The LDS Church is the 5th largest Christian denomination in the United States, but membership is mushrooming outside the USA. Indeed, the phenomenal growth of the Church in overseas areas is one of the biggest challenges we face.
The appeal of the Church lies in its focus on strengthening families and in teaching moral standards that make a positive impact in the lives of its members. Opposition and criticism is to be expected and we try to take it in stride. It can be shocking to be so misunderstood at time, but all it takes to correct misunderstanding is information and reasonable dialogue.

"but you can guess how people would react to the eposode if it bashed Jews. "
or Muslims!!! Can't have that!!
FWIW, just about every episode of this show has some sort of attack on whatever represents "traditional American values."
I especially liked the ending of last night's episode, which was the cast watching the "Rocky Horror Picture Show." The ultimate juxtaposition of good (the movie) vs. evil (Mormons and by extension other Christians).
Not even the slightest hint that anybody might have a legitimate, reasoned objection to TRHPS and the lifestyles it glorifies.
I watched the episode you're talking about. I thought it was very over the top, with the "crazy Mormon military father" and the "wacko aunt" who turned this guy into a serial killer by telling him to "listen to God".
However, they were all over-acting SO MUCH (including the guy who played the victim), I came to believe that the over-acting was intentional. They were meant to be caricatures.
I disagree.
They were meant to be caricatures
Think of the caricatures the Jews were before the active and outward persecutions began in Europe....
