I guess I'm pretty sick & tired of the runaway bride story too but I'm drawn to it for some reason..........I guess I can't get my head around the 600 guests, 14 bridesmaids, 8 bridal showers, etc. Is this really a "suthren" thing???? I have never heard of such a huge wedding, other than royalty.:)

We had one shower, two attendants, and maybe 100 people. Of course, our marriage has lasted only 29 years, so maybe they know something we don't.;^)

One more thing, aand then I PROMISE I won't bring it up again: is it just me, or is there something REALLY SPOOKY about that girl's eyes?????

Okay, I'll drop it now.;^)

I haven't seen her eyes other than in a photo. Eight bridal Showers? That's roughly 40 poeple a shower if you divide by 2 to assume half the guests are men who don't attend(usually) bridal showers. (I know, run-on sentence)

Neets, saw you made the baked french toast for breakfast. I made that for our Easter breakfast at church. Everyone loved it! How about your household?

Spooky eyes? You bet!

Except for the number of bridesmaids, there isn't anything particularly weird about the wedding...it is just a big one.

My cousin had a huge wedding like that back in the 80's...about 600 guests, 5 bridesmaids, 2 flowergirls, fancy buffet at a posh downtown club.

My husband and I had our parents and two friends. LOL!

One of my sisters had 5 bridesmaids and about 300 people. My daughter had about 200 with 5 bridesmaids.

I think in some circles (my cousin was one) the invitations are used because of friends of the parents. My cousin married a partner in a law firm so a lot of the guests were clients. My daughter's wedding was large because of 2 big families and lots of school, work, and church friends. I think larger weddings like this are more common in the south, but that is just my opinion and may be wrong.

600 guests and 14 Bridesmaids sounds excessive to me, also.

"Big" weddings are a common thing here where it isn't unusual for 4 generations of a family to be living in a community. Big would be defined as 200-300 guests.

When both the Bride & Groom live in the same community and went off to college where they developed another big circle of friends, these occasions tend to grow. But NEVER to 600.

Both of my older boys were married in front of more than 200 guests. That's not unusual here. Actually typical.

I've never been invited to a wedding where there were 600 guests. However, I have been to cattle shows where there were that many attending. Hmmmm.

That's the first thing my husband said this morning when he finally saw her picture. She has wild eyes.

I haven't seen the eyes (or even a picture) of the runaway bride, but yesterday my husband kept talking about someone having Sharks Eyes. When I finally asked who he was talking about, it was her!

YES! YES!! YES!!!

She has haunting eyes.....entrancing eyes....one might even say she has....Marty Feldman Eyes! (arpreggio, please!):

Her hair is Terri Garr gold,
To Frau Blucher's surprise;
Her stare is scatter-shot bold,
She's got Marty Feldman eyes!

She's got one eye pointing east,
And one pointing due west;
It's double-vision deluxe,
She got Marty Feldman eyes....

;-))

Roomey asked the same question Mozie. I think it's her contact lenses, she also suffers from eye strain, from the looks of the visible blood vessels across her left eye.

I think her boyfriend is kind of dippy too, if he says he's still willing to marry her.

I also think the family should donate the $100,000.00 they put up for her whereabouts, to the police department. Just to show how grateful they are for the time and effort the police put in looking for her.
