I found out about these arguments from reading Michael Jones's "Culture Wars," which ran a few pieces on Duesberg's theories and a summary of his book by Duesberg, as I recall. I followed it up because it did have some credibility.

I think Duesberg does a good job of revealing the numerous holes in the standard accounts of AIDS, including the much disputed question of who "discovered" AIDS. I wasn't convinced that he had a completely convincing alternative explanation, however.

Regretably, the medical profession, like everything else, has been politicized. A large scale study of AIDS deaths and the incidence of HIV in those who die of what appears to be AIDS might give some proof one way or another. Unfortunately, HIV tests are not very reliable and in early days were virtually useless. Such a study would have to be done by really competent specialists, but probably none of them would venture into this territory for fear of being ostracized by the profession and having their funds cut off. It's one of many fields where funding depends on finding the politically correct answers.

I mentioned Africa, because almost anyone who dies of any disease in Africa, even malnutrition, is classified as having AIDS, and they really can't test widely for the presence of HIV. If the victime has Karposi's cancer or any of more than a dozen other diseases associated with AIDS, they are said to have died of AIDS. Maybe so, maybe not. No way to tell.

==No way to tell.

Well yes, there is a way to tell, but the Public Health establishment has quashed all such proposed scientific studies to determine the real cause of AIDS.
