Why Is Scott Still On 'Idol'? Is “votefortheworst.com” propping him up? (+ Bo’s dr

SCOTT Savol, who seems to be the most unlikely finalist on "American Idol" this season, just keeps hanging on.

And viewers are beginning to wonder exactly how Savol, the pudgy kid from Shaker Heights, Ohio, is managing to pull it off, while fan favorites like Constantine Maroulis get the boot, as he did Wednesday night.

Some point to the efforts of a Web site called votefortheworst.com, which considers "Idol" a joke and encourages viewers to cast their votes for Savol because, it says, "he is the worst."

"I think our site definitely has some effect on the results for 'Idol,' " says Dave DellaTerza, the site's creator.

"I always used to say it's just like any 12-year-old girl power-voting for [Idol wannabe] Carrie [Underwood]," he says.

That girl "thinks her results affect the show, too, when they just help to contribute. But I've changed my tune a bit since our Web site got over 100,000 hits in the last two days. Now I'm hearing from people who throw 'vote for the worst' parties, who get office pools together to vote for Scott . . . This has definitely turned into something huge, which I hope will continue."

It was a shock Wednesday when Maroulis, who had never before come even thisclose to getting tossed from the show, was voted out. But the native New Yorker took it in stride.

But the best line in the piece was about Scott... "He’s dark, like a singing serial killer or something." No kidding!

Which article said that? I couldn't find it.

Did either of you see this post by Elyse?

I'm really disappointed and shocked to see how many people have embraced this media story without question.

If you go to the Smoking Gun and check out the 'police report' that this whole story is based on you will see that it is a witness statement taken by the police. The Smoking Gun distorts the truth by saying 'According to the police" and then they state details from the witness report which are the words of the witness and not the words of the policeman taking the statement or a statement of fact from the police department. You do not have all the facts. You have one side of the story.

If you believe that every man that is accused of a domestic violence is guilty and that no woman can lie or exaggerate in a police report when she is upset or angry, then I guess that is all the evidence you need to convict him in an internet kangaroo court.

The report states that the girlfriend signed a warrant for his arrest. She did not sign the warrant. The police went ahead with the case on their own because at that time Ohio was having a zero tolerance on domestic abuse campaign. The girlfriend, in fact, wrote a letter to the court in Scott's defense.

The Smoking Gun says that Scott eventually took a plea, insinuating that he plea bargained, when there is no evidence of that. The district attorney could have dropped the charges when he realized that he did not have the evidence to convict.

The facts in this case are that Scott was accused of crime that he was not found guilty of committing. Scott plead no contest and was found guilty of a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.

In the 4 years, since this incident Scott went on to become a state certified corrections officer. He has custody of his son.

Every article about this in the media has not added any new facts. All the, so called, reporters have only paraphrased the Smoking Gun report. I guess they are all too lazy or not intelligent enough to find all the facts and write an unbiased report that contains both sides of the story. It's better to put out a juicy story, than the real story.

Can you post the whole paragraph for me because I still can't find this sentence. "He’s dark, like a singing serial killer or something."

Thanks in advance.

The fix is in, Bo Bice is guaranteed to win.

Kind of looks that way. Especially when you take into account that NONE of the judges called him on NOT singing a 70's dance tune when he did Vehicle. I heard an oldies station of the radio talking about how that was not a dance tune. But he got away with it.

Actually, it's from post #2...

"And I actually like Scott. He’s edgier and funkier than all the other contestants. He’s the only one who you wouldn’t expect to be singing on a cruise or in the band at your parents fiftieth wedding anniversary. He’s dark, like a singing serial killer or something. I’m happy every week he makes the cut."

Why are people so dumb that they watch or care about crap on TV?

For the same reason that you do things in your life that others would consider dumb or time-wasting.

Didn't realize it had to be 70's Dance song. I did notice that he had the best (70ish) graphics when he did "Vehicle."

Bo is a good singer, however, so was every one of the 12 finalists. This is by far and away the best singing talent the show has ever had and I believe they are better than all the previous seasons combined.

I was really bummed because I missed the week when Constantine sang "Bohemian Rhapsody." I had liked Bo a little more than Constantine, but would have switched if I liked his rendition of that Queen song.

Why I believe the fix is in has to do with two things. First is, it doesn't seem to matter how well Bo sings the song, all 3 judges gush over him. Call this the Rueben factor. Second, is my belief that they desire a mixed group of singing talent in their winners stable. If Scott wins, it's Rueben II. Can't let that happen. Vonzell is a prettier, better singing version of last years winner who is more screamer than singer if you ask me. Can't have her winning because it invalidates last years winner. They got a pop star year one, a crooner the next, an R&Ber? last year. Didn't watch last season and only saw Fantasia (Disney should sue her) do that one song this season. What's left, a rocker or country. Every year, up until now, it seemed like they dissed all the country and/or rock singers. I haven't watched enough of the shows to be totally confident in my last statement though.

This season the judges seem to fall all over themselves praising Bo and his rock music choices. Hence, we arrive at last night. If Constantine hangs on 2 more weeks while Scott and the young kid go, they may have ended up with a situation where Constantine out performs Bo for the week, splits the rocker vote and Bo goes home. They want Bo over Constantine, thus the need to see Constantine go now.

One thing that popped in my head when they said it was Constantine to go home ----was Paula.
Remember the hubub about her 'favoring' some of them? I always thought it was Constantine.....could American Idol be warding off a lawsuit by getting rid of him? I think he could of won myself....

Anyway.....here are some links to each of Constantines performances that you can download ansd watch (Ok--I admit it--I have them--I really like this kid)

Sometimes Scott seems to be confused about his race.

His ex girlfriend is black. Scott has custody of their 4 year old son. That might explain a few things. I'm trying to figure out how Scott the evil man got custody of his son from the son's sainted mother! LOL

I guess the courts didn't consider Scott to be as much of a bad guy as some posters around here.

Wow, he sings great. Freddie would be pleased.

Does American Idol have them hack all songs to under 2 minutes all the way and including the final?

I would like to hear him sing the whole song.

But I'd also like to see them do Elvis one week and opera the next.
