I have been a Republican and a conservative before I even knew what it meant to be one, but lately I have to agree with you Laz. How do we elect people to the Senate that are such wusses? I mean they are really chickensh*t leaders. I will never vote for a Democrat in my life, but I will stop giving my meager funds to the Republican party if they cave on judges, Social Security, and immigration. I never wanted to believe the people that said the two parties were Republicrats and Democans, but it really looks like that more and more to me. The failure of the senate during Clinton's impeachment really pissed me off, but I kept supporting the party. If they fail now, they will lose my money and efforts.

I've marked my line in the sand on the nominees as well.

For the life of me I will never understand how a Republican President can appoint a judge only to have that appointment nixed in a Republican Senate, without ever giving the President the respect of an up or down vote.

I cannot seriously believe Frist is so stupid as to compromise on the filibuster issue. Doing so only sets a precedent that the dims' unconstitutional tactics are legitimate. The judicial filibusters aren't legitimate in any way, shape or form. They are based not on qualifications or fitness for the bench -- instead they are based on ideology and abortion/religion litmus tests.

What makes me most sick about this whole charade is that Ginsberg, Stevens and Breyer - some of the most ideologically extreme jurists in history - are already on the SCOTUS, and they still have the unmitigated gall to label GWB's appointees as extremists and prevent an up or down vote.

The ineptitude almost makes me want to vote for dimocraps just to speed the process of strengthening the pubbies longer term, with the idea being what doesn't kill them might make them less wimpy.

Why? That's the whole point of a paper free voting system. You never have to worry about those pesky voters, only if your hackers are better than their hackers...

Oh yeah...We're still voting that way, but they're cut off from our piggybank, and whenever the email comes to me, they get the same little rejection boilerplate back - I tried to look it up real quick but they've stopped asking, so it's not in my last month of sentmail.

I'm not sure where I'd go if I left the Republicans - I voted Libertarian for years without becoming active in the party. When I did become active & started attending local meetings, I realized that all the Libs in my area really care about is the drugs, so that's over. I was thinking Constitution, but I wasn't real impressed with their stance on the war.

If I don't have anywhere to go, I might well stay home.
