FREEPER FAMILY TABLE--Indulgences
me | April 22, 2005 | grellis

Posted on 04/22/2005 6:22:13 AM PDT by grellis

It is a topic we have done before (yet again!!!) but who couldn't use a little relaxing, fluffy conversation?

What is something that you do, just for you? Occasional manicure? Six-pack of Guinness? Annual hunting or fishing trip with Dad? A nice, long soak in a nice, hot tub? Antiquing?

Is there any indulgence you would like, if time and money allowed? A trip to Europe, perhaps, or piano lessons?

ROFL!!!!!!!!

If politics is left at home, I might as well leave my life at home ;)

All kidding aside, surf fishing is one of my favorite ways of spending a day.

I love to exercise as my indulgence. This summer I will be rejoining my master's swim group. I also like to run a lot. This seems to be the ONLY time I have to myself where I can let my mind wander. The only thing I don't like is the swimming is from 6-7:30 in the morning. My other big indulgence is going to the mall (this summer is exciting because I won't be buying maternity clothes, first time in awhile!), buying some new duds and sipping a coffee that I paid $5 for and it still doesn't taste as good as my home brew. I wish JK Rowlings would hurry up with the 6th installment, I read that she finished it right before Christmas, release it already! I love Harry Potter books and am thirsty for more!

I'd love a massage, facial and pedicure.

That, or a long weekend at a log cabin in the mountains with hubby.

Nothing beats sitting on the beach in the sun with a beer in one hand and a smoke in the other.

You forgot the rack of ribs on the grill! ;-)

Gardening, gardening, gardening.

I love getting dirty, I love the exercise of doing my own digging and hauling, I love getting sweaty and jumping in the pool, I love to watch my little babies come back in the spring, I love the sense of accomplishment, I love making things beautiful all by myself, and it is the one thing (besides burying my face in my kitties tummy), that stops my mind from racing.

We moved to a new to us house almost two years ago, and the big garden that was here was full of river rock and barberries. It looked like a McDonalds drive through. Two years later, it is starting to look really good. I expect after we have been here for five years, it will be close to where I want it.

It's like one huge lifelong science experiment. You never know what is going to happen. I spend the winter researching and planning, spend the spring digging and planting, spend the summer tackling spider mites and aphids, and spend the fall pruning and cleaning up.

I only wish my husband enjoyed it, too, so we could do it together. But he golfs. Hrumpfff.

Remember, we drive the truck onto the beach. Liberals don't do this. But there is always that one dink once in a while that will comment on my bumper stickers. I refuse to acknowledge their stupidity, offer them a beer and change the subject. Sometimes I can't be bothered.

The only thing I want to do is catch dinner. HA!

I read every night before bed to relax. I also hand the baby over to daddy after church on Sundays to have some me time. For a few hours I sometimes get a pedicure, get a haircut, go shopping, or occasionally take a nap. It gives him bonding time he really doesn't get all that much of during the week.

I would love it if we could a family vacation. We are invited to a wedding in Canada in June but don't know if we can go or not yet...

I love the song in your tag line!

VERY BIG GRIN!!!!

When it comes on the radio in the car I have to change the "damn" to "dang" else my 6year old will fine me a quarter :)

Same with "Redneck girls"(?) - we change the chorus from "Hell Yeah" to "Yell yeah"

A few weeks ago my husband was outside when she and I were coming home from the store.......he told us he could hear us at the stop sign - which is more than a quarter mile from the house!!!!

Cheap red wine with Diet 7-up. Naps with the baby. Terrible romance novels. The Complete Works of Thomas Sowell ...

I could go on, but Bill is making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with marshmallow whip in the kitchen, and I'm afraid we may have to power-wash if he's not supervised :-).

I also love gardening.....and have nearly 2 acres to play with :)

Monday marks 2 years to the date, but today is 2 years to the day, we moved into our new-to-us house. My veggie "patch" is over 1/3 of an acre on the west side of the house. On the east side is a 75-80 foot long "lawn" at the end of which is planted a golf hole - thus both hubby and I have "our" sides of the yard :)

Actually he enjoys the gardening as much as, if not more than, I do and we both enjoy golf....and fishing.

You might enjoy that, but what does the poor cat think? Any one of my cats would rip my eyes out. ;)

Remember, we drive the truck onto the beach.

This year will be the first time we have a vehicle to do just that!!!

Except in a few isolated pockets - and the tourists of course - liberal bumper stickers are few and far between in these parts!!!!

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jax made her own PBJ sandwich the other day - I was thoroughly impressed.....she put the J back in the fridge, the knife in the sink, and didn't leave a mess!!!!

She is getting an award for math at 2 this afternoon at the school's annual awards ceremony, so if I want any of my indulgence of adult time with hubby - I've got to scoot right now!!!! In fact he is hovering as he is READY to go!!!

Later gators!!!

I was laughing out loud. We have an enormous Maine Coon with really big paws that contain loooonnngg sharp claws which she uses very deftly to shred things that even touch her belly.

My kitties are quite receptive. I do not currently have any of the rip-your-eyes-out variety.

Here are a couple of pictures of Sam, Feline Ambassador to the World, Supreme God of Loviness and Laidbackedness.

Sam, Feline Ambassador to the World, Supreme God of Loviness and LaidbackednessI can't get a picture of him that makes him look as big as he is!!

That's funny . . my husband just suggested putting a putting green in the back-back of our yard.

I thought at one point I would take up golf so that I could play with him, but after witnessing his constant frustration (he's pretty high strung), I think I'll stick with my relaxing gardening.
