Friday, April 22, 2005

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

SINISTER

Adj
Pronunciation: Sin/i/ster.

adjective: (heraldry) on or starting from the wearer's left
Example: "Bar sinister"
adjective: stemming from evil characteristics or forces; wicked or dishonorable
Example: "The scheme of some sinister intelligence bent on punishing him-Thomas Hardy"
adjective: threatening or foreshadowing evil or tragic developments
Example: "Sinister storm clouds"

O Lord, be with them now...hold each of their hands...give them the strength necessary to face the road ahead, and bring healing to heart and soul.

Amen.

I wore a muted coral sleeveless gauze dress and a hot pink jacket to the installation of officers ceremony at the Moose Lodge this afternoon.........

Hubby has lit a fire in the woodstove this evening. I want SPRING....for real - no more of these teasers.

My husband and I went to the next town today to mass -- we had KNEELERS and the very conservative holy African priest. It was like heaven on earth. We just found out we are losing him to another parish in June. They are very fortunate, he is a special priest.

I hdd to change choices of outfits to wear a couple of times this morning because of a shoe problem (lack of) and in searching for a proper colored slip I discovered my favorite bathing suit!!!!!!!!! a definite sign because I never found it at all last summer and all we had was rain and rotten weather.

So I guess if I said I was outside pruning shrubs in a tshirt you would be telling me to hush....? lol

We got to Houston in late June last year, already hot and muggy by then - so I'm really enjoying the very nice cool evenings we are having this spring - Hot days, cool evenings

Of course not - I was outside in shorts last week - of course only out behind the house where I couldn't bee seen from the road :)

The deck hubby built when we first got here (2 years ago today) is perfect for spring and fall evenings because it is 12feet up and faces southwest. It's wonderful after sunset in the summer.............fuggedaboutit in the winter.

XSExtraordinary Monday Teach - I will be extremely late for class on Monday..........I will be doing the child to school transport in the morning and will then be having a few meetings........

My tagline should go back to a line from another song I like --- I need a vacation from my life.

Unfortunately the tagline space won't hold the entire segment of the song that suits me perfectly:

I need a vacation from my life
Me and my husband we need a wife
Someone who's sole ambition is laundry

I'm taking the morning off to go to the hearing at the courthouse in the county seat-the judge for the HOA/water district lawsuit is supposed to rule whether that f'in bogus piece of crap the HOA board calls an agreement is accepted or rejected. A lot of us are going to be there to show our opposition because the thing was never voted on by the general membership.

I really hope this judge sees what a fiasco this is and what a legal Pandora's box acceptance would open-the first thing that will happen is that the general membership will hire an attorney and sue both our board of directors and the water district, then there is talk of suing three board members individually for conflict of interest and accepting money from the water district. Fifty three suits for damages to property have been filed in small claims court by people living on the coves that flooded in the 2002 flood against the water district for not opening the floodgates as they are mandated to do in their charter. The AG's office has already opened an investigation into these dealings, and then there is the matter of the holy "lost documents" that our housewife operative found, so I really don't see how any judge in his right mind could accept this garbage as a settlement. Most of the general membership would rather see our original lawsuit continue to it's logical conclusion, especially in light of all the new evidence we've dug up. At the very least, considering how much we pay in HOA fees, I want more bang for my buck than some scam that costs me another fee every year-this one to an hostile water district that wants to tell me how to use my property and my water.
