The Hobbit Hole XXI - ...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

...Towards the Moon or to the Sun.

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

My grandmother made great biscuits...I never learned her method.

I'm thinking club soday, lemon juice, and Jim Beam.

You can't see it very well. But he's lighting the shot he's about to drink. Then he spills it and catches himself on fire.

No animals were harmed in the filming of this video.

Morons yes. Animals no.

I just use a recipe from "The Joy of Cooking" - pretty basic baking power biscuits. I think the main trick is just to not handle the dough anymore than you have to, or the biscuits aren't as flaky.

But the BEST biscuits I've ever made used lard. I had a very old recipe and just had to try 'em once. They were outstanding!

That's probably what my grandmother used. I know she dredged them in bacon grease prior to baking them.

Once you get cooled down and hydrated your tummy realizes it was ignored all day. I could eat everything in sight right now.

I read on a website the other day that swimmers don't lose weight because being in the cold water increases your appetite.

4 weeks without missing a weekday...now they tell me...

Hey there... starting off with a little wild turkey.

2J: Catching up a little... did you ever get an answer on the wine? It's no particular surprise... I think an 8-oz wine is rather a large amount... maybe twice what a 'glass' of wine is generally presumed to be. That, and a 'shot' of alcohol isn't always the full 1.5OZ that a shot is assumed to be.

Never shoot 151 rum while smoking. :-)

Heh...remember that old Saturday Night Life Thanksgiving sketch (with the original cast?).

Everyone came in to sit down in front of the TV...moaning and groaning about how stuffed they were. The men sit down and unbutton their pants.

They sit there for a minute, then Gilda Rander says "I think I'll have a turkey sandwich..."

"me to"

"fix me one"

etc. etc.

Heh...

It's surprising to me! I always think of whiskey as being so strong, and back in the days when I drank a lot, I mainly drank whiskey (and rum). I never drank wine, but I guess I always got the impression it was little more than Kool-Aid! LOL

So I had no idea what a normal serving was...8oz seemed like a nice number! LOL!! I polished that off and realized maybe that wasn't really a serving. Steve came home from church with the kids and I was trying not to reel around in the living room!

ROFLOL!

Before starting this wine regime, that Wild Turkey at Hair's place was the first alcoholic beverage I've had in about 10 years. It still reminded me of my grandfather.

What's Cuervo Gold? I drank 12oz of Cuervo Gold in 20 minutes once. I weighed 97lbs at the time. (I know, because it was right before I quit smoking and I know I weighed 97lbs when I quit.)

Anyway, it dang near killed me. That was over 20 years ago.

That's 8 shots of Cuervo... it's an 80 proof tequila... and 8 shots is plenty to wipe out all but the most hardened drinker.

Yer' lucky to be alive. Alcohol poisoning is no joke.

Ted Kennedy wouldn't have got a buzz off of 8 shots, but it would lay me flat out for 24 hours. :-)

Heh! I tell ya, I'll eat just about anything.

I ate a whole squid the other day at the chinese food restaurant...it was cold, like the boiled shrimp and I didn't like that aspect of it. I think it woulda been better served warm...in a soup or something.
