Sir Ian McKellen and Alfred Molina Join the Cast The Da Vinci Code

Ian McKellen, famous for his role of Gandalf, and Alfred Molina will be joining Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou in The Da Vinci Code.

Ian McKellen, famous for his role of Gandalf, the wizard from The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Alfred Molina of Spider-Man 2 will be joining Tom Hanks and Audrey Tautou in The Da Vinci Code, according to Variety.

Alfred Molina is set to play zealous Bishop Arigarosa, who’s keenly interested in the sleuthing activities of Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Hanks) and cryptographer Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou).

Sir McKellen will play Sir Teabing, a wealthy man who acts as a resource for Langdon even as he shows his own ambitions to uncover the Holy Grail.

The Da Vinci Code directed by Ron Howard is an adaptation of Dan Brown’s bestseller of the same name.

Production of The Da Vinci Code begins in June for a May 19. The Da Vinci Code will be released in 2006.

I didn't feel any fear of them, other than the fear of accepting book recommendations from people so obviously dense.

I probably see the movie on cable though. I'll watch anything, hoping for some midgets or explosions.

I'm with you. Frankly, there aren't too many Hollywood types that I respect in regard to their personal lives, but of the many that I don't, I usually enjoy their work, and I'm not one who will refuse to see a movie because of an actor's political or moral views. That said, I think there is a tendency for celebrities to think that their opinions are so blasted important that everyone should hear them. Personally, the less I hear from or read about the personal lives of Hollywood types, the better, but they keep forcing their views on the public.

I think it is an interesting commentary how Hollywood which is run mostly by nonreligious Jews (Jew in name only) will attack American and Christian values by denouncing the positive influence Christianity has and supporting projects which belittle and vilify Christians and their beliefs.

This thing has had huge support from millions of readers over the last couple of years. It's one of the highest selling novels of all time and should therefore be a surprise to no one that it's being made into a glossy Hollywood movie.

Oh really - I have yet to see a true movie acount made on ol'Bubba and their are many books which have sold millions showing him as a disgrace. In fact if someone was to make a movie I bet it would be a big hit, showing what a disgrace he was. Dont get me wrong - this is not a take on Jews - most truly religious Jews are conservative and I respect them and value them as partner in fighting evil libs however,Would you deny that the NYT (and most major papers), the major media networks and most Hollywood studios are run by Jews (in name only)?

Well that's not a good analogy since we're talking about a novel here...fiction. There was an Italian novel some 25 years ago called 'The Name of the Rose' which dealt with evil goings in Monasticism. IIRC there was some outcry over that too which is now forgotten. This book is a frivolous piece of pulp that deserves no serious attention. If you think the decision to adapt this huge bestselling novel is the result of Christian hating Jews I really don't know what to say. I can't imagine any situation where a novel this popular would not be adapted for film

As for your other question, I have absolutely no idea of the religion of the people you mentioned...nor do I care. There are plenty of sites that can provide you with that information and I assure you they are unsavory.

What I said about Jews running most of the media is a well known truth - not meant to incite but as a statement for reflection. Your statement that you dont care about their religion is obviously a lie otherwise you wouldnt of made it an issue per my first post. For the sake of argument I'll play...As far as I can tell none of the cast members mentioned are Jewish...nor is Dan Brown or Ron Howard. There. If you want to play the 'Jews run the media' card go ahead, just don't expect me nod and make suggestions. And you were the one who brought religion into this with the initial post I responded to, not I. If I presented a 'Holier then Thou' attitude I apologize. It's just that I've heard this sort of thing before an it never goes anywhere positive. Regards.

My point re. my first post was somewhat rhetorical and not meant as an exercise for investigation. This book is being used as a means to incriminate Christians/Christianity as a hoax whether you believe it or not - a review of the discussion re. the story's premise would show as much. I am not afraid of presenting the truth, we are to PC today, if Christians were persecuting or attacking Jews unfairly and via a monopoly of media conglomerates then I would say that it is wrong unfortunately I believe that Hollywood has found a way to silence people who speak out against the obvious bias present in entertainment by calling them racist, homophobe, Christian or antisemitic. It is wrong and if Jews (in name only) are hiding behind their faith as cover we should expose this anti-Christian/anti-American rhetoric.

This is simply not true. Please find one source that says otherwise. I know the book is being used that way and I'm sorry about that. But your argument then is with the author (who is in virtual seclusion and doesn't give interviews).

As for Christians being persecuted by the movie industry, I think it's more a matter of religion in general being held in disdain by various secular elements. It's not just Christianity. For instance, Woody Allen has virtually made a career out of making fun of Judaism.
