The big difference being "The Matrix" sucked. =P
Sounds enticing but I still ain't interested.
As I understand it, not actually having read the book, the concept is at least interesting. Historical mystery tied into existing legend; adds verisimilitude (hence so many getting sucked into believing it is real). The central figure, Jesus, is the most significant historical figure in the world, so people are always fascinated by him (one way or the other), and the story being believable enough to at least think to yourself "gee, what if...", makes it a winner. I may watch it, if the script is decent. Quite apart from the totally fallacious "facts", it makes for good storytelling.
Ian McKellen also hates the US Military, America and George Bush. As if there wasn't enough already to despise him for.
I agree! It was still very popular.
Granted, but there are a lot of stupid people in the world. Actually, they're more like "fools," in the Psalm 14:1 sense.
Am I the only one tired of the list of entertainers I'm supposed to stop being entertained by. Please stop the madness.
Granted. Life's too short to read someone's tripe and slander about the church.
Some folks get waaaaaaaaay to overwrought about it. It's a novel, a work of fiction. I read it, enjoyed it as a half-decent adventure-type story, then put it away. Anyone who actually thinks there is some "deeper truth" to it is probably hopeless to begin with.
Personally, I'd rather not know about Ian McKellen's homosexuality and his rabid disrespect for Christianity, but he was the one who widely broadcast his lifestyle and opinions -- forcing his viewpoint, as it were, on the public. Regardless, I still enjoyed his role in LOTR.

If you like mystery-type stuff, you might enjoy it. But don't take it seriously.
Exactly. It's a fast paced mystery story. Good for light summer reading.
I don't know about Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon, though. I pictured someone alot better looking.
Brilliant observation.
I couldn't see that either. I was thinking someone like Liam Neeson.
Jesus got Mary Magdalene pregnant prior to being crucified. Mary moved to France after the crucifixion, and her daughter, Sarah, was the foundation for the Merovingian line of kings. A secret society, made up of a combination of obscure nobles and major historical figures, protects the knowledge of the Merovingian bloodline. Da Vinci, a member of the society, hides clues in his works which are discovered by a modern-day scholar.
2 Corinthians 11
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
