Anyone catch 24 tonight??

It is getting down to the wire. Air force one has been shot down, the nuclear football has been compromised, and NOW, a nuclear device is in terrorists hands. This is where the tv show "24" is now, after a wild shortened season.

Now, one terrorist has been captured. he has DIRECT connections to those who perpetrated the attacks on America in this fictional show. Needless to say, CTU(the counter-terrorism unit), is more than eager to get information from him, as to the whereabouts of the head terrorist, Merwhan(sp?), and the stolen nuke. BUT.. a fictional group called "amnesty global" (an OBVIOUS pun of amnesty international), has been called into the fray, to PREVENT interrogation of this captured terrrorist, on the grounds that "his civil rights have been violated!!!

However, our white stallion, Jack bauer, decided to fake out the terrorist, so he can question him on his own, AGAINST the new, impotent, presidents orders. Bauer does this, and obtains information, that MAY lead to Merwhan and the warhead, before it is detonated somewhere in America, probably killing up to 1 MILLION people.

SO-- who out there, believes that if this was a REAL situation... the government would cower down to anti-American civil rights terrorist supporters, OR.. Would our government do the RIGHT thing, in such a case, and do WHATEVER IT TAKES, to get information from a KNOWN terrorist, in order to stop an attack which would kill more Americans than have been lost in ALL of the wars, since the revolutionary war??

I loved the way Jack Bauer finally "solved" the problem of how to get around the judge's restraining order that the "Amnesty Global" (gotta love it!) weasel had obtained in the middle of the night.

One must also respect and admire the way Jack showed his compassion for the suspect's pain after concluding his interrogation. :)

I'm still wondering why, in the previous episode, the helicoptor didn't take out the second jeep with Marwan still in it and how Marwan got away in that jeep in the middle of the desert.

I'm still wondering why........

I think the more puzzling question is why the actors of 24 get paid $$ when they are so pathetic at their craft.

I wondered that myself, while watching the show. Yes, I think in reality, it does happen. And I don't think the word "cower" applies.

On the whole, Americans respect the rule of law. And therefore, respect the courts. What Americans do have -- is the American spirit of "can do"; Patriot America gets smarter. Was clear to me, Buchanan has experience with this; Edger was getting upset; but Buchanan clearly has seen this happen many times. I suspect he was already thinking another approach when Jack brought up his own. Yeah, I'd do a Jack Bauer thing, quit, and then... "when the law is an ass" ... I'd work within the law to do the true productive, constructive thing... I think most would.
