The Patriot

His brother died that day in Pearl,
The sneak attack took place.
He lost a cousin on D-Day,
He still can see his face.
The fight was tough and many died,
But freedom they would save.
He fought the Nazis gallantly,
He was more scared than brave.
But he and other’s pressed the fight,
And soon prevail they did.
He came back home to tickertape,
Back home to wife and kid.
He raised his family, they raised theirs,
Now all have moved away.
His wife passed several years ago.
He misses her each day.
What’s happened to the land he loves,
The one he fought hard for.
He can’t go out for walks at night,
He has to lock his door.
He stays at home and reads a bit,
At least his dog still cares.
The young folks drive by in their cars,
Their music loud, their stares.
He flies Old Glory everyday,
He takes her in at night.
He sometimes wishes that he knew,
Just what could make it right.
I’ll tell you now we owe this man,
Much more than we can pay.
Let’s take our country back for him,
We need to start today.
Right now our troops are overseas,
Like he was long ago.
When they come home, home must be here,
The home we used to know.
Turn off the TV, get outside,
Go shake your neighbors hand.
Vote out the leftist liberals,
Get loud and take a stand.
America, is ours to save,
From outside and within.
Let’s keep her strong and keep her great,
So home she’ll be again.

Help On The Way

Read:
1 John 3:11-20

Whoever . . . sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? -1 John 3:17

Bible In One Year: Psalm 22-24

cover Our friends were traveling from Georgia to Illinois in a rented van. About halfway to their destination, their van was damaged when it hit a huge hole in the road. Other cars were disabled as well, and it was a rather chaotic scene.

While our friends were sorting things out, a police officer offered to drop them off at a nearby McDonald's. When they got there, they sat in a booth to await word about getting the van fixed. Because of their dedication to serving others, they didn't have much money.

Meanwhile, they had called to let us know about the difficulty, but there wasn't much we could do except pray and trust that God would watch over them. As they and their children sat in the booth, a man came over with bags of burgers and fries. "God told me I should give you some food," he explained as he delivered supper for the hungry family.

How many times have we seen God send help on the way? On the flip side, how many times have we felt the urge to help someone-and balked at the notion?

We are God's hands on earth-created both to receive help and to give it. Do you know someone who needs help on the way? -Dave Branon

Jesus taught when He lived on this earth
How to show love to the lost;
Don't be afraid to give a kind touch,
No matter how much it may cost. -Carbaugh

A helping hand can lighten another's burden.

How to Wash the Cat

Thoroughly clean the toilet. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water, and have both lids lifted. Obtain the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.

In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids (you may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape).

CAUTION!!!!!

Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for any purchase they can find.

Flush the toilet three or four times.

Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.

Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids. The now-clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.

Sincerely,

The DOG

Borrowed from Mukraker (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1385761/posts) for Patriot's Day:

A college professor, an avowed atheist and active in the ACLU, was teaching his class. He shocked several of his students when he flatly stated that for once and for all he was going to prove there was no God.

Addressing the ceiling he shouted "GOD, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes!!!!!"

The lecture room fell silent. You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by. "I'm waiting God, if you're real, knock me off this platform!!!!" Again after a few more minutes, the professor taunted God, saying, "Here I am, God!!! I'm still waiting!!!"

His count down got down to the last couple of minutes when a Navy SEAL, just released from the Navy after serving in Afghanistan and Iraq and newly registered in the class, walked up to the Professor.

The SEAL hit him full force in the face, and sent the Professor tumbling from his lofty platform.

The Professor was out cold!! The students were stunned and shocked. They began to babble in confusion. The SEAL nonchalantly took his seat in the front row and sat silent. The class looked at him and fell silent.....waiting.

Eventually, the professor came to and was noticeably shaken. He looked at the SEAL in the front row. When the professor regained his senses and could speak he asked "What the hell is the matter with you?! Why did you do that!?"

"God was really busy, protecting America's soldiers, who are protecting your right to say stupid shit and act like an asshole!!! So he sent me!!"

We Saved A Seat

We keep a place in the parlor, a seat for an old friend,
Someone who went to fight for us, we shall not see again.
But just in case he wanders by, he’s welcome to a rest.
We’ve got the seat saved just for him, as flowers will attest.

We don’t expect to see him, though we think of him a lot.
We only know he said, “I’m going, and I’ll give it all I’ve got.”
We know he gave it that and more, and didn’t pass in vain.
I guess we sorta knew it when he stepped up on the train.

I’d rather think of him that way, instead of in the mud.
And certainly I wouldn’t want to think about the blood.
Determined was his visage, and noble was his cause,
And when we count our blessings ‘round, we stop here and we pause.
