Good list! I might change a few, but anyone who appreciates both Fort Apache and Shenandoah is fine by me.

I have seen Shenandoah so many times, & I still cry at the end!

C - COURT JESTER

hysterical, best comedy ever

K - King & I (Rogers/Hammerstein) - you have other R&H but mysteriously not the best 1! Sound of Music very well done and arguably best, but K&I smoldering attraction story and very well done production. Better than OK and Carousel or SP for sure.

I love Shenandoah, and I'm always surprised at how few people have seen it. It's certainly one of the best Civil War movies from the pre 1990s.

I agree. My Favorite Civil War flick is Gettysburg.

Anne of the Thousand Days

The Big Lebowski (for John Goodman mainly)

The Late Show (Art Carney & Lily Tomlin)

The Lion in Winter

Lolita (the remake; almost anything with Jeremy Irons)

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Raising Arizona

Shadowlands (actually, almost anything with Anthony Hopkins)

I love Gettysburg, even with the bad beards they used! Atephen Lang was so much better as Pickett in it than he was as Stonewall in Gods & Generals - but he was a lot better in G&G than Jeff Daniels was. Daniels looked 20 years older in G&G than he did in Gettysburg, even though Chamberlain was supposed to be younger.

warning: I just realized this post might not make any sense.

My father loved John Ford movies so much that he insisted my sister be named "Maureen" after Maureen O'Hara.
