Why people feel the need to engage in this "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" business is beyond me. If you don't want to be here anymore, just quit posting. I left FR for a bit myself once - and I didn't make a post announcing it - I just quit posting.

Me too. I seriously think it is an ego boost to see people beg them not to leave.

It's a website, people. I have a husband and three kids, and I love FR, but I don't let stuff on here run my life. I am too busy trying to raise my kids to be good people to worry about what someone in cyberspace thinks about me.

Sitting here obsessing about getting the last word and who said what is pretty juvenile, kind of like high school. And since I graduated from h.s. 14 years ago, I would like to act like an adult now.

I agree with you about the nature of these farewell posts. There's just something about getting hundreds of total strangers to beg you not to leave that is appealing to people.
