You Watch The Moon
You speak of moonlight, while I sweat,
Your evening hasnt got here yet.
The moon you see, will shine for me,
As I lie down with memory,
My worries, and the days heartaches,
And all the pain from my mistakes.
I gather calmness from the dusk,
And breathe the scents of evenings musk,
The twilight brings the evenings calm,
And confidence from your songs balm.
For you have seen this day and night,
And found it not a source for fright.
You faced the challenge, and in time,
Incorporated it in rhyme.
You walked with Day and held its hand,
While you stood strong in a foreign land.
The heart of evil that will try,
To harm us must first face your eye,
And you will cause its force to wither,
Before it dares to journey hither.
We thank you then for standing there,
While we sleep soundly without care.
Your loved ones and a grateful nation,
Protected from Wars desolation,
A world away, but held so close,
Each of us missing what we love most.
Take heart that as you watch the moon,
Your task will end, youll come home soon.
