A Tale of Two Governors & Executive Powers: Gov. Blagojevich and Gov. Bush By Ruben Obregon

On Friday Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojefich issued an excutive order which requires drug stores to dispense prescribed emergency contraceptives.

"No hassles, no lecture, just fill the prescription," Blagojevich said.

The emergency order, which remains in place, is an example of the discretionary authority which a Governor has.

How come this minion of the culture of death had the courage and will to exercise his executive power and Gov. Bush didn’t?

Why did Gov. Bush claim his hands were tied, when he had the power to declare a state of emergency due to a Constitutional crisis?

Gov. Bush could have used an executive order to enforce the feeding of all brain damaged patients in the State of Florida who lack a written directive. This was within his ordinary power, yet he publicly denied he had such power – a slap in the face of Terri’s parents.

The Schiavo tragedy brings to the forefront the fact that the judiciary can only do what the executive and legislative branches let it get away with.

It’s time to call for these branches to not only approve justices who respect the constitution, but to also enforce the Constitution by exercising their power if necessary.

Jebs lack of action has awakened many to the fact the heart of the problem lies in the abdication of power, and the refusal to take it back. It’s time to demand that candidates for office use their executive powers to reign in the Judiciary. If they aren’t willing to do so, they do not deserve to be placed in office or re-elected.

Minion of the culture of death?

God forbid that people can actually pick up the drugs that they've been prescribed!
