I'm with you. I'm too young to have seen the original, but I knew it by reputation. I wasn't expecting much from this show.
But it's good. The best sci-fi show in years. Better, in my view, than Babylon 5 in its prime.

Have you checked out the amazon.com reviews of the dvd? Very interesting, as is the soundtrack. On Usenet, check out alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.soundtracks

Yes several months ago when it was decided that it was a perversion of the original series and without the face man and papa cartwright, wasn't worth watching.

Second all that good stuff, plus I'm in love with Tricia Helfer.

There was a thread about two months ago just after the series started. There seemed to be a number of fans of the new series.
I no longer have cable TV, so I have to wait till the first season comes out on DVD. However, I enjoyed the four hour miniseries from a year and a half ago, the "pilot" from which they modeled the new series.
Jamie Bamber (Apollo) also played Horatio Hornblower's sidekick Archie on A&E's original miniseries, Horatio Hornblower, Season I (eight hours) and II (four hours).

I loved the pilot, then I discovered the series on Usenet newsgroups (alt.binaries.multimedia) from the SkyOne broadcast of the series (it was later shown on SciFi channel.) I keep pulling out the divx DVDs I recorded and play it on my player and eagerly await the next season.

I think this new version is the finest Sci Fi show that television has ever produced.
