I think when "old-timers" leave, there's probably something we can take from the situation and circumstances. I'm not talking about the usual opus that we see with a FReeper that is all of 6 months "old" leaving.
In this case it's merely an exercise in projection.
Three things happened this past year that drew increased membership:
Reagan's death (around Dem Convention season)
Buckhead shooting down CBS in the memo scandal
Bush and Republicans winning the election
Were people led here because they were of like-mind, or were they led here to propogate dissent and divide? With so many, how is one to know? Either way, the culture is different.
Almost 7 years on the board and they leave? Ya' gotta learn to ignore the airheads and wackos. They will be on every board.
When I get mad I just go and look for the kitties and science posts.
