I also took a different approach than most here in the Schiavo case, not siding with Michael, but simply criticizing the extremism, such as Randall Terry, Bo Gritz, desecrating American flags and crucifixes, cursing the governor and President, threatening the lives of the Schiavo families, etc, and was severely flamed. It goes with the territory. You, like hchutch seem to have a pretty good slant on things, and I for one, would hate to see such folks disappear leaving only the mindless extremist automatons. You will not find a better site anywhere in spite of it all.
And in spite of inane "don't let the screen-door hit you" crowd that loves to get in that last mindless dig.
Some have recognized how divisive the Schiavo episode had been for Freepers, not unlike the country at large.
Yes, some damage has been done here over that past 2 weeks, but Free Republic is vibrant, still populated by good freepers, and God willing, will continue even stronger than before.
That has been the case on the evolution threads for more than 4 years...still is, worse than ever.
Just take a hyatus Poobah and come back again when you get 'the call'...you've been a good FReeper and we should be chasing these other dodos outta here...not vice versa.

Oh, you haven't seen the posts about how MS tried to kill her, how freepers wanted to kill him, cheered that his family was getting death threats, saying the Jewish judges hated the Schindlers because of Schindlers List and the Holocaust, etc.
Well, okay. So everyone who has complained about what I've complained about...we're all just nuts. Glad we have that settled.
LOL...I have to learn how to italicize. It gets me into trouble when I just go spouting off like that. There could be 500 posts by the time I get it and then no one remembers what the heck I'm talking about...Just like my husband...:)
I try to avoid the religion forum. It's a protest over forcing matters of faith forced into the basement. I just can't help it if I live an integrated life.....
