The pope thing has me less lachrymose, and more p.o'd. The media are like a bunch of buzzards circling around waiting to pick the flesh from his bones the seconds he expires!

I remember coming home from school on the day he was elected, and my parents were beside themselves with pride that the first non-Italian pope was Polish! (well, except for that obscure Galilean fisherman-guy :)

I truly believe that he has been not just a spiritual leader, but a very influential political leader, as well. He and Ronald Reagan changed the face of the earth. I, however, have not yet given him up for dead!!

well i believe God is calling him home at this point. he has been great. i saw him in DC when he was here years and years and years ago. what a wonderful man he is. He deserves his rest, he has done so much.

Chewing tobacco? What would a water fountain in a Western Pennsylvania high school be without it? I thought it was there so the aroma enhanced the water-drinking experience!
