I read on another thread that Jeb Bush appointed the current ME. The previous examiner was fired due to incompetence in a baby shaking case.
It was also mentioned that because of the new Dale Erhardt (sp) Law, autopsies are private and only family can release the info. That means Michael Schiavo will control what is made public.
I just saw on Fox some examiner who was questioning if the ME would classify this as "murder". Maybe if somehow it is classified as murder it takes it out of Michael's hands.
Especially, if it is proved that Michael was indeed the murderer?? I think there should be a Federal component to the autopsy on many levels..
When it is a result of the court-ordered directions of the State, it shouldn't be, nor should the medical records be private. If the state is going to act, they should be considered public records-- this would be the only way to prevent abuse by the State.
Recommended to Gov. Bush by the Florida Medical Examiners' Commission. McCabe was the chairman of the search committee. Thogmartin was excited about Pinellas County having its toxicology work done in-house. Dunno. You call it.
