Word For The Day, Thursday, March 31, 2005
03/31/05 | Slip 18

March 31, 2005, Thursday

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

SEMINAL

Adjective
Pronunciation: Semin/al
Etymology: I don’t know. I can’t read the danged thing.

1) Of, derived from, containing or consisting of seed or semen ( ~ vessel )
2) Having the characteristics of originative power, principle or source: containing or contributing seeds of later development: germinate

I actually heard this word on the news (of course FNN) the other night. It had nothing to do with fluid, you Croqs.

I do not think the Pope will be long with us-it just seems too much has gone wrong with him in so short a time-I'm goung to stop to light some candles for him on the way to work.

I had heard early on that Felos was affiliated with the hemlock society-it was presented as common knowledge. I'm sure he's hoping his denial of the fact is going to keep people from seeing what a raving maniac he really is-he is about as sane as the heaven's gate bunch, in my opinion...

I have been attempting some methods of self comforting (rather than self medicating.)

I have on a warm sweater, because even though it's supposed to go into the eighties (before texan5's cool front reaches us) I just feel cold.

I left work early yesterday and had a nap with Lillie, and then had turkey, gravy and potatoes for dinner before helping my son with his homework and pirating some uplifting songs...like the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's version of "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and Ladysmith Black Mombasa's version of "Oh Happy Day."

My boss is at mass this morning- so no work to distract me yet...I was peeking in the nursery at Malachi...just waiting for my wftd...

I agree, the Pope will go directly to God who will praise him for a job well done and complete. The end of an era is coming......

That cold front brought us a few showers at 7 last night and 30 mph winds with gusts up to 40 that woke me up at about 3:00 this morning-it blows so hard on the metal roof that it sounds like the whole thing is going to come right off the house, and it is not supposed to let up till late afternoon. It is 44 and clear now, but after getting up to 65 or so, there is a possible freeze warning posted for tonight for this part of the hill country. I hope the cold front has calmed down somewhat by the time it reaches Dutch...

I was just thinking about something hubby said last evening when we were eating dinner-I was talking about the fact that MS could have gotten a divorce from Terri if he wanted to move on with his life, and that he insisted on having her killed instead only proved that he never wanted her to tell what happened to her and that he wanted whatever money was there from insurance, settlement, etc. Hubby pointed out that he probably could have asked for and been granted an annulment by the church under the circumstances, which would have made it okay for him to marry his mistress in the church and his kids would have been legitimate. I must admit that never occurred to me-and it really makes the HINO look guilty as hell-I wonder if any lawyer will bring that up in the sure-to-be-impending lawsuits filed by the Schindlers?

i hadn't thought of it either, but of course, he is right. this would be a classic case for annulment.

My husband has been saying something similar to that for weeks........not about an annulment, he's not Catholic and so doesn't think about those terms.........but about the rest of it.

Well, I suppose not being able to open is not as bad as opening the wrong one.

I'm suffering from postpapacrapapapaphobia. That's the fear that the next Pope after this one won't be as good as this one has been.

APRIL FOOL'S! You're welcome.

A pome:

I HAVE A DREAM!

Michael Schiavo, wearing a leer
Was porking away with his old pal Judge Greer
When all of a suddenly what should appear
Bazooka, all loaded, with nice shiny gear
Before you could say "Where's the darn trigger here?"
That weapon shot one right up mean Judge Greer's rear
And blasted them both right into the lowest circle of Hell.

I'm gonna hafta work on that last line. (Not to mention the rest of it).

Say, don't YOU live in Virginia?

You know, as I get older and life therefore becomes shorter, I find I really bored really fast with things which are just too long and tedious. Take, for example, the screen name WhyisaTexasgirliTHUD!zzz-zzz-zzz...

Here's a "thought": if, heaven forfend, Miss Slip and Mr. Cyber got a divorce, could Mr. Cyber be said to have received a slipperectomy?

I had on a pair of cut-offs and a wife beater undershirt top yesterday when I was using the weedeater to cut the yard because it was in the high 70's, but I'm wearing a flannel shirt and jeans today-that wind is cold!

It was the perfect murder.
MS never had to get his hands dirty. He got the State of Florida - via the Men in Black - to make the "hit". As a bonus, he even had police on hand to ensure the success of the crime. In the end, he walks away with the cash.

But then, a $400,000 attorney should put you on top, eh?

Here's another "thought", Tex. For ages people have been yelling at us to set up a living will, set up a living will, so you and your family don't run into problems!

I'd say Terri's case pretty much obviates any need for living wills.
