In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.
The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. Im just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words as if can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.
Adjective
Pronunciation: Semin/al
Etymology: I dont know. I cant read the danged thing.
1) Of, derived from, containing or consisting of seed or semen ( ~ vessel )
2) Having the characteristics of originative power, principle or source: containing or contributing seeds of later development: germinate
Finally! Er, I mean, WOOHOO!!
Why not kill Mrs. Schiavo quickly and efficiently, by depriving her of air to breathe? In principle, that would have been no different from denying her the other basic necessities of life. Why not give her a lethal injection? The law would not have allowed those methods; but the reason nobody advocated them was that they would have been too obviously murder. So the court-ordered killing was carried out slowly, incrementally, over days and weeks, with soft music, stuffed animals, and euphonious slogans about choice and dignity and radiance. By the time it ended, no one really remembered how many days and hours it had gone on. The nation accepted it, national polls supported it, and we all moved on to other things.
Next time it will be easier. It always is. The tolerance of early-term abortion made it possible to tolerate partial-birth abortion, and to give advanced thinkers a hearing when they advocate outright infanticide. Letting the courts decide such life-and-death issues made it possible for us to let them decide others, made it seem somehow wrong for anyone to stand in their way. Now they are helping to snuff out the minimally conscious.
Who's next?
The dissenting Judge in the denial for the TRO from the 11th Circuit nails the other three bastards.(Whittmore, and the 2 member affirming majority)
Anyone is next. Take your pick. Anything goes now.
the concern on the OTHER side of this debate is much more with losing their ability to decide how they or a family member will depart this earth. The slippery slope tilts both ways i was told by one of them. yes, one side tilts toward indiscriminate killing of inconvenient burdensome charges, and the other tilts towards perhaps keeping someone alive against their will. i suppose we must each choose what we fear more.
briefs? are we gonna have another panty raid?
I imagine a lot of people will get a living will after all of this. That probably won't even help.
it will, and that perception is the problem. they are are so worried that they will be hooked up against their will, or that they will be drained financially by a family hooked up to tubes against their will. a living will is YOUR wishes in writing and there is no reason to believe that it will not be honored. Terri had none, and this case is precedent to put to death someone who had not expressed (via objective proof) her wishes in that regard.
Correct me if I'm wrong, because I very well could be: If you don't have a living will, then any hearsay by your spouse or closest of kin could be used to do anything that person wishes to do to you.
What is going on over at WPPFF? I went over there to read a bit, and it seems like everyone is either leaving there or FR. I couldn't read the whole thread.
felos says michael shiavo has been living in a room down the hall from Terri to be "near" her. then he starts in on the stress of this still being in the courts and causing so much more added stress.........Bull Sh!t.
I haven't a clue at the moment.
This was such a clarifying event, if nothing else.
I hope not, the last pair I got could have been a bedspread!
Well, his stress is gone now.
It's none of my business, anyway.
Awwww, c'mon.
Probably tomorrow when xs is the subbie.
I'm having bad 'flashbacks' to my first few months on FR.
It gets a little heated.
