Would this be rancor? I thought we had decided to stop it?

My family is getting our elderly relatives out of Florida. They tried to put my grandfather to sleep when he had a totally treatable condition a couple of months ago, for no reason other than that he was 89 years old. Thank God there are doctors in my family who were there to hold their feet to the fire. He's now close to a full recovery.

"I thought we had decided to stop it?"

Stop what?

I thought free speech was a right.

I commend CK for having the guts to say what many are afraid to say.

This was an execution murder plain and simple.

I would never forgive myself if I had not spoken out against this travesty.

Too many Christians and too many churches do nothing. They are standing idly by, they are mere spectators. They sit on the sidelines instead of actively participating and working for the good. If good wins, they join in the celebration though they did nothing to produce the victory. If evil wins, they will complain long and loud though their own apathy helped produce the undesirable result.

When Jesus found a fig tree with "nothing thereon, but leaves only" He cursed the tree and "presently the fig tree withered away" (Matt. 21:19). What will He do with those who claim to be good and yet who do nothing? John the baptist warned, "And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire" (Matt. 3:10; John 15:2).

I hope others who may find themselves in this position do the same. It is definitely not safe to live there if you have any chance of becoming a burden to the state!

It's ironic that florida has been touted for years and years and years as the 'perfect retirement place'.

Hello flaglady47,

Do you believe the state has the authority to sanction the killing of innocent human beings?

Do you believe the state did just that in the case of Terri Schiavo?

Ok, I should have explained I was being sarcastic. In another post someone said we needed to stop the rancor. I come to the FreeRepublic to learn, to vent, and to sometimes do what CK did. Within conservative thought there is a lot of nuance, and this is a good place to debate it. If I were in Terri Schiavo's place I would want to die, but that is a far cry from believing that gives me the right to hold back food and water till she dies. I am still both highly disturbed and confused on exactly how we got to the place where we can go through a so called legal process where the end game is to dehydrate someone to death. It's almost as if we believe we can create a process in which no matter what outrage we come up with, it's perfectly ok to do what we just did to Terri so long as we followed the process. Sometimes, when you look at results you know the process was wrong no matter how perfect it seemed at the time. I think rancor is good on occasion and CK said what a lot of us feel.

This case isn't at all complex.

I was in the middle of posting a reply to this comment when I heard the news of Terri's passing. I'll let it lie in peace as I pray that Terri does also.

You just voiced what is on a lot of peoples minds, including mine. If we can't get Congress to use their power to rein in the judiciary by impeaching a few terrorist judges, then we have no need for Congress either, IMHO. We need to make examples of a few of these freaks to let the rest know that their treasonous acts against this country and it's people will not be tolerated!!

RIGHT ON!! RIGHT ON!! RIGHT ON!!!

For all who have been making excuses for Jeb and continue to sympathize with his "plight" in that "his hands were tied" and he was "just following the law," and there "nothing he could do," and we are a "nation of law," and "he could have been arrested" by those local yokels posing as officers of the law in Pinellas Park, had he dared excercised his authority, because the little Hitler (Greer) had ruled that Jeb could not take custody of Terri, and those little thugs/brown-shirts/PD/Sheriffs Deputies were only "following the law and doing their duty as diretted by the court (Greer) etc., read on:

An Introduction to Florida Government

The Florida State Constitution declares that the powers of state government be divided into three separate and relatively independent branches -
· executive,
· legislative, and
· judicial.

Each branch is sovereign in its own area of responsibility, but it is also influenced by the checks and balances from the other branches. It is basically the same governmental model found at the national level and in all 50 states

EXECUTIVE BRANCH

The EXECUTIVE branch IS the LAW-ADMINISTERING AND LAW-ENFORECING BRANCH. It is patterned along the lines of a large corporation with the governor serving as chairman of the board and the three independently elected cabinet members serving as directors.

The governor is elected for a four-year term and may serve two terms in succession. The lieutenant governor is elected as running mate of the governor. Members of the Cabinet are elected to four year terms and may succeed themselves for any number of terms. All of the many agencies and departments that are responsible for programs in Florida State government are also part of the Executive Branch.

The Governor is responsible for day-to-day operations of the state AND IS THE CHIEF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER. (EMPHASIS ADDED)

(HE USED TO BE. NOW IT IS A LOWLY PONDSCUM-SUCKING PROBATE JUDGED IN PINELAS COUNTY; WHO WAS ONLY ABLE TO CARRY OUT “HIS” JUDICALLY SANCTIONED “EXECUTION” OF AN INNOCENT PERSON WITH THE COMPLICTY OF THE AIDING AND ABETTING THUGS, I.E., THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF PINELLAS PARK AND THE PINELLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT)

The governor appoints not only the heads of departments under sole oversight of the governor, but also the heads of departments that are under both the governor and Cabinet's oversight, although at least three Cabinet members must agree to the appointments. The governor also appoints members of several regulatory boards and commissions.

PAY ATTENTION ONE AND ALL WHO SAY THAT WUSS JEB COULD DO NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

By executive order, THE GOVERNONE MAY SUSPEND FROM OFFICE ANY STATE OR COUNTY ELECTED OFFICION WHO IS NOT SUBJECT TO IMPEACHMENT.

The governor cannot suspend the lieutenant governor, Cabinet members, Supreme Court justices, appellate judges, or circuit court judges.

((YES, ME “MAY,” BUT ONLY IF HE DOES NOT FALL PREY TO THE ADVICE OF HIS LEGAL ADVISORS, MSM, FELOS—WHO DECLARED AT A NEWS CONFERENCE THAT JEB HAS NO MORE AUTHORITY THAN ANY OTHER COMMON CITIZEN AND SO MANY ON THIS SITE BOUGHT INTO THAT FALSITY—HANDERS, ETC., AND DECIDED THAT IT WOULD “NOT” BE “POLITICALLY EXPEDIENT” FOR HIM TO DO SO. SHAME ON YOU MR. GOVENOR.)

CONTRARY TO WHAT SO MANY HAVE OPINED, INCLUDING HAVING VILIFIED ALAN KEYES FOR HIS POSITION PAPER, JEB COULD HAVE TAKEN THE INTIATIVE AND PERSONALLY LED A CONTINGENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONEL TO THE HOSPICE AND "ORDERED" THE THUG PD/DEPUTY SHERIFFS TO STAND DOWN, OR BE FIRED.

HE HAD THE AUTHORITY AND HE HAD THE LAW AND STATE CONSTITUION ON HIS SIDE; HE SIMPLY LACKED THE MORAL FIBER AND CONVICTION THAT HE NEEDED TO EXHIBIT AND CLEARLY FAILED IN HIS RESPONSIBILITIES AS HE SWORE TO DO WHEN HE TOOK THE OATH OF OFFICE.

· The Legislative branch is the law-making branch and is composed of two houses - the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Legislature meets for a regular 60-day session each year. There may also be special and extended sessions if necessary.

The Senate and House affect every Floridian's life through legislation relating to how cities and counties operate, through appointment of state officials, through investigative and budgetary matters, and through taxes. The legislative branch is considered to be the most powerful of the state's three branches of government.

(NOT ANY MORE!!!! NOW, THE MOST POWERFUL OF THE THREE BRANCHES IS JUDGE (“DEATH”) GREER.)

The SENATE has 40 members, each elected to a four year term. Half the senate members are elected every two years, providing for staggered terms. Senate districts are based on population with each senator representing approximately the same number of residents. To do so, some senators may represent only one county or a portion of a county, while another senator may represent multiple counties. The senate like the house is reapportioned every 10 years when the federal census is released.

· JUDICIAL BRANCH

The JUDICIAL branch is the law-interpreting branch. Its powers are exercised primarily through courts established by the State Constitution. Florida's judicial branch consists of a series of courts with differing levels of authority and jurisdictions.

"I still want to know WHY this POS (HINO)is not being charged with BIGOMY!!!"

I don't either although it is not Bigamy, it is Adultery/Cohabitation.

Of course if someone were to do that and he were convicted (as he probably would based on his own admission and easily proven other evidence) then he possible might have been considered unfit for continuing to act as her Guardian--though as we have seen from Greer's opinions, MS probably could have been a serial rapist/sex offender/ax murderer, etc. and Greer would not taken that as worthy in considering keeping MS as her Guardian.

HEY, LETS FACE IT: MS/GREER/FELOS/ET AL, wanted Terri DEAD and nothing was going to stop their efforts.

Rest in peace, Terri. You are no longer a political football caught in a vicious game. And very shortly now, I will be off these lousy Schiavo threads. You can all reinforce yourselves and empathize with each other, and to the few who were not mean and nasty, I sympathize with your feelings of loss. But these threads will be a very good thing to stay away from now. I'm afraid they may get even more hostile, if that's possible.
