George and Jeb Bush will be next on their hit list..

No need. They've already done themselves in.

Here is the reality of things and it isn't pretty or to my liking but we, as a society, do not have infinite resources so that we can spend hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars on cases like Terri's. We simply can't and I don't believe it is fair to her. In the coming decades we are going to have to face crushing health care costs and taxes are at their limits. Even minimal care such as has been provided are beyond the limits of almost all families and thus will be placed upon everyone else.

I have been faced with losing she who was the most wonderful being in my world and life and there is zero chance I would condemn her to an existence like Terri has had these last fifteen years.

We have huge and rising costs associated with our military actions overseas and the health care components of them alone are gigantic.

Medical care has always been rationed by cost and only in the last decades, after Uncle Sam started picking up the bills, have these cases even been seriously considered except for those who could privately pay, the very rich.

These are the most serious issues in the world but those who are not of the Keep Terri Alive At All Costs school do not come to their conclusions lightly or with glee but only after deep reflection and great sorrow. To see these good people who are dealing with these questions condemned and pilloried is both revolting and deeply troubling for those concerned about FR and conservativism.

Your fear of a precedent is entirely unwarranted since these cases are there in the thousands. Everyday these decisons are made and there is no option to making them. These are medical commonplace events nothing in the slightest unusual. This one has been completed blown out of proportion by political forces and a family which just cannot accept that their daughter is gone never to return no matter what they do.

As to the relative importance of lives. Is there any doubt that those of the caregivers and providers are more important since without them the dependent rapidly die? Is there any doubt that the life of a 20 year old is more important than that of an old man like me? I think not.

I see no contradiction between my statement and the Biblical quote. While I do not believe Terri's spirit is still in the body in the normal way though perhaps it is prevented from undergoing transition to the Other side by these interventions.

I also believe that if it is it can only be in complete agony at watching her family undergo all this grief for her. If it were I knowing that I was exhausting my family financial and emotional resources would be a horror beyond comtemplation. Or that her husband, whom she loved, has become an object of scorn and raging hatred for no good reason.

Medical intervention can extend almost every dying person's lives and keep them hanging on to shreds of life. But is that God's will? Is this fear of death a good thing? I don't think so.

That has nothing to do with any aspect of this case.

If those "money losers" bankrupt the nursing homes how much greater suffering will that entail? Surely not less.

Only with the advent of socialized medicine have these issues even been visible. Generally the life prolonging steps were stopped when the family's resources were consumed. Is there a real option here?

We'll have to agree to disagree, then.

This thread just went up. Please, read it carefully.

FYI: There's only one catch. IF ANYBODY MAKES A COMPLAINT AGAINST GEORGE GREER TO THE JQC, if they assign you a Docket Number, it must be kept confidential or they will dismiss it. In other words, don't do a post at Free Republic or disclose to anyone that the JQC assigned you a docket number or they will throw out your complaint.

All judicial complaints are also thrown out if the paper is not 8 1/2 x 11 with 14 fonts Times
or if the printing is not strictly vertical.

In many states, the type, grade, and cotton content of the paper forming the complaint is specified as well
or the complaint does not count and is thrown out.

THERE IS ONE INTERPRETATION - 1) THERE IS NO JUDICIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

2) JUDICIDE joints ARKANCIDE as acceptable in America

That was just my historically based comment about the power of Governors v. judges, reminiscent of George Wallace at the doors of the University of Alabama, making a "media stand" (for about 20 seconds.) .

www.PetitionOnline.com has received 28,267 signatures asking for impeachment of Judge Greer, stated today's The Washington Times. The front-page article lists many of his outrageous rulings.

Amen BG.

Terri was never terminal, every part of her body was healthy except 80% of her brain. From what I have read MS refused any therapy for her after the $$$$$ settlement. She went downhill from there.

It makes no sense to me how a man who now lives with another woman and has two children with her can still be Terri's guardian. He has stayed married to Terri just for the purpose of finally removing that tube IMO. The reason for that remains somewhat of a mystery.

If another court will now consider hearing the Schindler's case, shouldn't a stay of execution be in order just like a convict on death row?

I mean really, a convict has more rights than this poor woman being starved to death.

I was just hearing on the news ( radio) that the Pelos was originally on the board for this paticular hospice facility and that this particular facility was linked to the Hemlock Society and was a proponet of euthenasia. That the judge and Michael are tight friends. This whole thing was stacked against the Shindler family from the start some 7 years ago..It took a long time for Michael to get away with the 'Perfect Murder'.

Hospice is set up for those who have 6 months or less of live due to terminal illness to receive paliative care. Why was Terri in the place for years? I suspect she was a real bother for her "louse spouse" to have a staff to help with her care while he dithered with his shackup and made 2 kids...Terri was just in the way of his moving on and it didn't matter a whit that her parents wanted to care for her. Michael and his troops will pay the consequences someday, if not in this world in the next.
