You are right on there. In fact, one commentator has opined that the best way to do a 007 flick is to go back to the beginning, show how Bond started as a spy, and set the movies in the late 1950's/ 1960's, when the times really fit the concept.

I think there are more than enough openings for present-day story lines, but Bond needs to move into Asia more, and more deeply. That's where the action is. Terrorists, arms dealers, dictators, warlords -- and people now understand how important all that can be to us on the other side of the world.
