Well, I guess that's true. But ilk always connotates thinking or being to me, and we certainly don't think the same. Actually, my wife told me a story this morning that reminds me of some of the people on this thread:

A spiritual man and his agnostic father were having one of their debates. The son had heard the story of Jonah in a sermon, and shared it with his father. The father said 'how could Jonah possibly live in the gastrointestinal system of a whale for a couple of days?'

The son replied 'I don't know, but when I get to Heaven I'll ask Jonah myself.'

The father then replied 'what if he's not there?'

'Then you can ask him' was the son's answer.
