LDotter Note on Why No Schiavo Threads
Lucianne.com ^ | LComStaff

Posted on 03/27/2005 5:29:48 AM PST by AmericanMade1776

Comments on the Schiavo story have now become repetitive, argumentative and increasingly ugly. Posters are losing their privileges for attacking and spamming. We feel we are serving our readers by posting articles but not allowing threads for comment. By doing this we save our members from themselves and preserve their ability to post.If subject is introduced on threads that are not about the Sciavo story they will be deleted.

I agree with much of what you say. I just don't think the war is over and don't think our country has lost. If we had, this would be commonplace and we would all be about our business not even talking about it. And I guess I have always had a sanguine view about our leaders, always have been surprised when they served us well.

This battle will be fought I do believe. We just have to be smart and on our feet. My worry is that seeing this horror unfold, people will demand lethal injection as an alternative. My husband was saying a bullet would have been kinder. And rather than stop and think about what line we are crossing, we will all march over it. And the children of the boomers will all inherit bigger estates and social security and medicare solvency can be fixed. That is my paranoid worry.

Lucianne used to post here. She started her own site probably in 98 or 99. They run a very tight ship, and, as such, it's a bit stifling. Also, this site used to have a link off of Drudge, but he took some exception to some attacks by posters here. I guess the point would be that people have the right to say what they want here, but when we offend Matt or Trixie, etc. we can expect them to exercise their rights too. If this site were still linked to off of Drudge, we'd get more visits. But the site has grown so much due to gifted posters - Buckhead, for example - that have put it in the news, that it's probably not as big of deal.

Catch your breath. Lucianne owns her site, she has always been strict about it, she hasn't called anyone a sinner and if she owns it, she can dictate what is talked about.

The sky isn't falling, yet.

She can have whatever site she wants. I visited there a couple of times and found it boring. On the other hand, there are lightly-moderated forums that have been taken over by the wackos. I like the way FR does it. Expunge the wackos and racists but don't kill topics.

Terri will hit the backburner soon.

I didn't say that she did call anyone a sinner, that is why I put the word sin in quotation marks---okay?

and actually, I am not saying the sky is falling, but I have seen a few posts on this thread saying that they agree with the policy, and although I know that Jim Robinson is too smart to do that, I just wonder why anyone would sign up to a discussion forum web-site and then get upset when people have heated disagreements?

I don't know how old you are, but I was born in 1964, so I am one of the so-called 'Tweeners.

The only sick chuckle I get out of all of this is something that Rush said last week, which I will paraphrase: the Boomers are responsible for this mess (and I am ashamed to be one of them), but they haven't realized yet that THEY are the ones whose plugs will be pulled when the time comes.

And where we disagree the most is that I believe we have lost. We already have a tyrannical government (all branches) that tramples our fundamental rights on a regular basis. I also believe there is an element of Satanistic ritual to it all, because that keeps popping up and it can't always be a coincidence. The pendulum will swing back eventually, but there's going to be some darkness before it happens.

I only hope I'll already be gone when it all comes apart (I already have a durable power of attorney, so my wife would have to pull the plug).

I know that the Terri subject will end soon, unfortunately because she is dead, prolly,but...

There is always the illegal immigration subject to look forward to--ha, ha. THAT subject gets a lot more contentious than the Terri subject does...

Fortunately, in a country where free speech and free thought is not stifled, in fact is encouraged, there will prolly be another subject that causes some major dissent here on FR....and I hope we all still get the chance to express our opinions like the always do, with no cussing, or personal threats and such

Be very nice to your wife!

I am old enough to be your mother so my view is that the boomers who are approaching retirement need their very old parents estates to properly fund their lifestyle. I am sort of a WWII baby which makes me older than the boomers. My plan is a durable power of atty to my husband who is the most trustworthy person I know. And if he dies before me, I am going to disregard my father who told me with great vehemence to never let go of my control of my money, he was adamant about it. I will disregard him and try to give it away to my children as much as I can so my death will not benefit anyone and will be an occasion of great grieving.

well, I guess the heated discussions lately are so divisive and have caused such concern on this thread that people have been upset.

And I think most agree Luci can do on her site what she wishes. Although it is easy to sympathise with a site where there are constant fights, insults and agitators.

I have been on threads with you for as long as I have been a Freeper and have, as far as I can remember, been mostly in agreement with you and have respected your opinions, always---

But, I think a website that doesn't have fights, and agitation, would be bbbbbbooooooring!!!! and I don't think I would visit it often.. Personally, I hate to fight with anyone, and sometimes I read a thread and don't participate because I don't want to fight with certain posters, BUT, I always am entertained an usually am informed of things I previously didn't know about...

The chance to learn, even through a heated discussion, is just one of my favorite things...my dad always told me to try to learn something new everyday and I can't think of a better place than here on FR, thanks to posters like you, cajungirl!

What bothers me about the whole Terri Schiavo discussions, and protest, is that it has become an Emotionally Charged issue, with no clear cut answers To solve saving Terri. The Emotions have a life of their own, beyond having any meaning to helping Terri . We have people who are so caught up in the emotions, that they are making no sense.

I have read that Terri's parents have asked the protesters to go home, because..it has to be draining on them to have such a circus atmosphere around them all the time. Look at some of these protestors outside....to me..it just seems freaky. I believe just as Free Republic has had trolls popping in on the issue here, there must be trolls encouraging unhealthy attitudes there outside the Woodside Hospice . Is this really what we want for Terri Schiavo?

At some point, we have to realize this is out of control...I mean My God a Man was arrested in North Carolina for putting a contract out on Michael Shiavo's life. I blame it on the Media, for making it their central focus of the news for the past few weeks, but soon this will be over and we will have to pick up the pieces, and make some sense of what has happened.

I am afraid of nitwits with nothing to add starting witless vanities. To compare Luciane's site to FreeRepublic is an insult to all Freepers who have posted and all Freepers who will ever post. Check out Lucianes' history with FR and the Robinsons' before you make an ignorant reply.

First of all, this was not a Vanity, it was not posted as a Vanity, it was posted as information from the Lucianne.com site, concerning their posture toward posting information toward the Shivaco situation. I know the history between Lucianne.com and Free Republic, and as far as I can tell we are on the both on the same page, just going at it from a different angle. I admire the Lucianne.com site, but appreciate the fact I have the right to express my opinions here at Free Republic. I was not aware that there was any competition between Lucianne.com and Free Republic, and that both groups are both patriotic organizations.

Your response certainly didn't disappoint in the nitwit category.

You are evidently ignorant of how Lucianne maliciously tried to destroy Jim Rob and FR.

I suggest you take your "refined" sensibilities and sensitve feelings over to Lucianne.com the last bastion of "honest" conservative discourse.
