Well, a good start would be to use correct punctuation and proper capitalization.

(I couldn't resist!)

Visit The HTML Sandbox

There you can learn the basics of posting using paragraphs, fonts, and much much more.

Welcome to FR!

Also, proper grammar is a must on FR. If you post with bad grammar you will be torn to shreds, especially on vanity threads.

Try typing this between your paragraphs:

Also, use capital letters at the beginning of sentences- it makes it easier for readers to see where one thought begins and another ends.

For starters, don't type as you have on this thread.

Don't post vanities!

And if you want paragraphs, insert a

between them.

Really. I've noticed lately so many who write like adolescents, or are plain lazy, or both.

I don't expect perfection, but they don't even try.

You're an AOL user, right?

Welcome to FR. At the risk of harping on style v. substance, if you look at mosts posts on FR, folks try to write in a way that's readable and coherent, and not like they are teenagers in an AOL chat room.

I've found myself conciously or unconciously avoiding posts that are tedious to read because of run-on sentences (lack of capitalization can appear that way), line breaks every 5 words, or lack of paragraph breaks. One person on FR writes solely in Japanese stanzas, for some reason, which I find completely unreadable.

Yes, I probably miss a good idea or two by skipping such posts, but I make up for it elsewhere.

Hi Kara and welcome to FR. I'm glad you can take some ribbing!

i was thinking

Is there a feminine version of "chap?"

Hey JoJo! See my post #12.

I'm a stickler for proper use of the language, too, but have thus far resisted joining the "grammar police!" LOL!

It's been a long time since I've said anything, since I too can make mistakes. Oh well, maybe it's just now come to my attention.

Hang in there....

no i'm a poet...and this is how i write my poetry...stream
of consciousness...i'm sorry if this annoys you but i cannot help it, i've been writing like this so long, it is second nature now...

Of course I know how to write "properly" but it does take a lot of effort and concentration for me to do it that way. So when I am writing in an informal setting like this...i tend to revert back to my "poetry mode"...

...sorry...

KaraLynn

i've always been one to do things my way...go against the grain of "proper"...i have developed my own style of doing things and if it makes me look like a 12 year old, well...so be it...i am comfortable like this...

well...aren't you the arbiter of who is and who is not lazy...some of us do this to PISS OFF people like you who think you can dictate to use how we need to express ourselves...

I happen to break the rules for many reasons. Finding my own distinct way of writing form is one. I happen to be a poet and like the stream-of-consciousness look of how i do it normally...if people don't like that then too bad...

t.s eliot never used capitals and people herald him as a poetic GENIUS by the way...

"i was thinking

:::blushing super bright red now:::

yes, that is who i meant (covers her face in embarrassment)...i ALWAYS get him and T.S. Eliot mixed up...i don't know why...but it was ee cummings who inspired me to find my own form to write my poetry in...i am sure when he started writing his stuff, people were annoyed with it too...

as for the feminine form of "chap"...would "chapette" do?

;)

Yes, its called writing incorrectly or poorly.
It reflects badly on you and on the site.

Unless you are running a mac, which removes your ability to capitalize the letter "I".
