The courts would just declare it unconstitutional and void anyway.

Anybody got the "Oh, no, not this $$$$ again!" JPEG?

Or the "beating a dead horse" jpeg. This loony idea has been brought up over and over, and now it's got it's very own vanity thread. Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

I don't see how he has the power to do that. Article IV gave Congress the power to order a federal court to review the case, which was fine--but using troops to move a civilian to a military facility?

That is what was done with Elian Gonzalez.

If Clinton can get away with pardoning convicted terrorists (FALN), then Bush can get away with rescuing Terri. It is not too much to ask of the President who has sent young men to fight and die to protect the innocent, to create some controversy to protect the innocent.

This country was not built by nay-sayers, but by action takers with a strong sense of right and wrong.

I think Terri's condition is contagious. There is no other explanation for the complete loss of rational thinking that has affect so many people on this forum in the past week.

I understand that. But Bush actually respects the Constitution, idiocies like Campaign Finance Reform notwithstanding.

maybe she has not comitted a crime however; judge greer and anyone executing his order to remove her feeding tube is comitting one or more felonies in that it is a felony to inflict corporal punishment , if more than one person is involved you also have conspiracy. funny how politicians that know this suborn it . what ever happened to no one is above the law.

More bombastic ballast helping to sink FR this week.

Emotions are higher on this issue than a lot in recent memory but I wish all those who want to jump on Gov.or Pres.Bush and accuse them of not doing enough to think back 6 years.
What would we have had with Clinton as President?A fake tear,a trembling lower lip and at the first possible moment jumping on the body, like he did after the Oklahoma City bombing,to accuse Republicans of not caring about the women because they did`nt fund xyz program enough or pass Hillarycare.

Nice sentiment, but everybody wants Terri to die. Just witness some of the comments. And all the polls back them up. Governor Greer of Florida has spoken, and when Terri does die, everyone will celebrate because we are still a 'nation of laws'.

Just like Nazi Germany was as they were killing the infirm, the disabled and the most vulnerable members of society.

We're sliding down the slope, picking up speed and most people seem to think that 'everything is just fine'.

It's not. The Constitution is dead.

He calls Bush fans "picture lickers." No moderation from him

Actually, I call the slavish daily-devotees to that dumb Let's-worship-the-politician picture thread "picture lickers". I'm sure we've all witnessed the servile slobbering that goes on over there.

And that's just how Karl Rove wants it. Now shut up, pay up and kneel before Our Rulers.

It's only fitting that you should crack up. The rest of FR is too.

You obviously didn't see the one where someone suggested that Jeb act against the law, and have his brother pardon him, or maybe you missed the one about Terri converting to Judaism, getting israeli citizenship (dual) and being taken to the Israeli embassy, or maybe you missed the call for the Vatican to use it's diplomatic immunity to spirit her away, then?

;0)

The President ... shall have Power to Grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.

Now, if one actually looked in teh constitution where this power is given, you can see it is for "offenses against teh United States", so....

As soon as you can tell me what offense against the United States that Terri SHiavo has committed and I'll agree with ya.

He can, however, however do what BJ Klintoon did with Elian Gonzalez, and send armed federal agents to take custody by force and remove Schiavo to a military hospital for treatment.

Why would that be okay for Terri, but not okay for Elian? Double standard?
