She has been sentenced to death, and the President could stop it. No she hasn't. This has to be the most idiotic thread ever to appear on FR.
To: NEWSHOUND
Not quite. I don't like what's happening to her too, but it's not capital punishment, it's not eligible for a presidential pardon, it's not eligible for the rest of the ideas brought up in the hundreds of vanities posted on this.
The final, last chance is if Jeb sends in state police, purposefully defying the judiciary ala Andrew Jackson. And that simply doesn't happen anymore.

civil vs criminal.
This is just plain and clear not going to happen.
You might as well demand Jannet Reno be brought back to burn down the hospice and kill everyone inside in order to save them.
To: Terpfen
What was Nixon pardoned for by President Ford? He had committed no crime.

Well she didn't answer the House subpoena
Also she allowed herself to be transported across state lines for unauthorized and experimental medical treatment (Trip to CA for brain electrodes and electro-shock therapy)...a federal crime.

A) Where have you been??? There are some lulus.
B) Just wait-- more to come.
C) Why hasn't this thread been pulled?

Many of you should think deeply about your lack of empathy.
Terri is a US Citizen, and has a God given right to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Two centuries of meddling lawyers does not change this fact.

Why would that be okay for Terri, but not okay for Elian? Double standard?Double-standards are A-OK now, as long as it is Jeb or George Bush carrying out an act that Clinton would have been reviled for.

Perjury and contempt, wasn't it?
That happened about 11 years before I was born, so I'm probably wrong.

Spare us. Empathy is not an excuse to propose logically, practically, and politially flawed schemes.

No she hasn't. This has to be the most idiotic thread ever to appear on FR. I wouldn't say that this has THE most idiotic thread ever here. I guess you missed the one about Terri being crucified.

You obviously didn't see the one where someone suggested that Jeb act against the law, and have his brother pardon him Actually, I did see that idiocy yesterday. Bush has done a lot of monumentally stupid things, but if he were crazy enough to do that, I would hope Americans would have enough sense to impeach his ass and toss him out immediately.
But after the last week, I fear a lot of people are blind enough, dumb enough or servile enough to let him get away with it.

My post said CORPORAL not CAPITAL. Corporal punishment is any punishment directed at the body and it is a felony in the state of Florida.
To: SENTINEL
The pardon power is not related to the "crime", but is to forgive the sentence.Explain to me, please, why Presidents issue pardons to some people who have already completed their sentence? And don't tell me that it expunges the crime from their record, because it doesn't.

I'm still hesitant to claim Ford's pardon of Nixon as precedent for pardoning Terri.
