~*~Look ye there on distant hill,
Lords, I beg ye pardon.
And I will show you, if ye will,
A flower of the Garden.~*~
~*~Flourish nigh from of the sun,
Nor rains, its petals bloom.
But in thine eye its place is won,
To draw it from its loom.~*~
~*~Look ye there, and shall ye see,
Yon miracle entire.
Flower-borne, her entity
Our Lady of the Empire.~*~
~*~Soaring high, into thy sight,
Rainbow-kissed, her wings.
Sparkling, fairy dust so bright,
Heaven's harp, she sings.~*~
~*~Sing ye now thy Spirit song
Fairy Queen shall see.
Shout it out the whole day long,
Embrace it unto thee~*~

Oh my, oh my.
Lovely poem and graphic. Just fabulous poem. Now who would write such a lovely poem and not sign it??
It must be old.
To: bentfeather
I think it is old also, but very stirring.
I found it on a site that had many older poems and stories, Keats, Yeats, Johnson, they are all magic to me.
Thank you Ms. Feather for your inspiration!

April is Poetry Month
William Wordsworth I Wandered Lonely As a Cloud
I WANDERED lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills, When all at once I saw a crowd, A host, of golden daffodils; Beside the lake, beneath the trees, Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine And twinkle on the milky way, The stretched in never-ending line Along the margin of a bay: Ten thousand saw I at a glance, Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they Outdid the sparkling waves in glee; A poet could not but be gay, In such a jocund company; I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thought What wealth to me the show had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie In vacant or in pensive mood, They flash upon that inward eye Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills, And dances with the daffodils.

Song for April

Sun shines in my window
Never noticed it before
It felt like one long winter
Then you came to my door
You made my life so meaningful
So hear my heartfelt plea :
Don't ever, ever change your mind
And go away from me.
Till you came in my life was just
A 'nine-till-five' affair
But now I view it differently
And all because you're there.
You make each day so beautiful
So hear my mortal plea
Don't ever, ever change your mind
And go away from me
For in my dreams I've always sought
To find someone like you
And now I have I know for sure
No other one will do........
That sun shines in my window
Lights the corners of my room.
Its' rays seek out the shaddows
And chase away the gloom.
You've made my life so peaceful
So listen to my plea :
Don't ever, ever leave me now
Don't go away from me.

We studied the Crimean War yesterday in homeschool, and then read this poem. So much more meaningful when you know what it's about! LOL!
The Charge of the Light Brigade
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
1.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward, All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred. "Forward, the Light Brigade! "Charge for the guns!" he said: Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred. 2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!" Was there a man dismay'd? Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd: Their's not to make reply, Their's not to reason why, Their's but to do and die: Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred. 3.
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred. 4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare, Flash'd as they turn'd in air, Sabring the gunners there, Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd: Plunged in the battery-smoke Right thro' the line they broke; Cossack and Russian Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd. Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred. 5.
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, While horse and hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro' the jaws of Death Back from the mouth of Hell, All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred. 6.
When can their glory fade? O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered. Honor the charge they made, Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred. |
