Sophistry. She is not operating an optimal level of capacity, namely able to speak for herself. That is not the same as being "brain dead, switch off the life support".

Are you comfortable with the idea of now, if you suffered a stroke and were unable to speak, that your spouse could have the plug pulled merely based on hearsay?
