"When was the last time you ever heard a judge ever admit that he might be wrong?"

They also avoid contradicting each other any time they can. I once had a Hillsdale county judge tell me that a Jackson county judge screwed up and led to my arrest in Hillsdale. The Hillsdale judge dropped the charges in his county but said he would not contest the Jackson county ruling.

I believe the Congress issued Teri's subpoena as a last gasp measure if all other avenues fail.

If DCF refuses to act today, I would say this should be the option next.

Could her family ask for, and obtain, an autopsy?

Autopsy is up to the County Medical Examiner. She cannot be buried or cremated until he signs off on it.
He can hold a Coroner's Inquest, which is a form of Grand Jury, he can do an Autopsy, or he can do nothing and sign off on the death certificate from the hospice.

Her parents, or anyone else can petition for an Inquest or autopsy. If there is a suspicion of foul play, it should be granted. If she had any life insurance, Michael Schiavo's lawyer says not, the Insurance Company will insist on an Autopsy before paying, because if Michael was responsible, then he cannot benefit from the proceeds.

Are you that malicious and hideously stupid to not understand the precedent this case is setting. Hearsay is going to be sufficient to change the bias for treatment of an incapacitated person from life to death.

The fact that you think this is somehow acceptable is sickening.

Committees in the Republican-controlled Congress issued subpoenas for Schiavo, her husband, and her caregivers demanding that they appear at hearings on March 25 and March 28.

"Terry Schiavo MUST Die"---(Liberals,Liberals,Liberals)

As we watch (and pray) the drama that has unfolded.....the brain-damaged young woman...the husband wanting that young woman dead so that he can add some status to his live in lover.....the parents wanting the young woman to live...hoping against all hope that some miracle will happen and their daughter will be made whole.

And at the bottom of the whole mess is a very simple problem , a very simple question, that each of us must face....and that the Nation as a whole must look at and , finally...please finally, deal with.

Do we value life????

Part of the body of Christianity is that each of us is important...that each of us is a child of God..and as such is to be valued . And if we follow the spirit of Christianity....it wouldn't even be a question of wether or not Terry Schiavo would live because it would be automatic that we would do everything to help her keep life...even with just the remotest chance of her returning to her normal self.

But we have lost that edge...because it is simpler...easier...to buy into the rabid nonsense that 'Quality of Life' is more important than life. Because , in this Nation and indeed the world, it is simpler..and far easier to NOT look at just what is life...and where it comes from.

Which is just how the Liberals want it.

Because if we look at how important life is (and how important Terry Schiavo's life is) and we start a National Dialog on the subject...we would have to actually have to look at abortion...and the taking of life...the murder of the unborn.

And that is something that Liberals (and most Americans for that matter) don't really want to discuss.

So....a young woman in Florida will have to die.

All for the sake of not shaking the 'status quo'.

All for the sake of not actually looking into our souls...and the soul of this Nation...and coming to grips with the idea that all life is precious and must not be squandered.

..and the one thing that Liberals fear...(hear them quaking in their loafers??) that a re-evaluating of where we are...and where we are headed (life, abortion etc) would lead to a re-discovering of exactly where that life comes from.

God.

Now THAT'S a thought I'm amazed has [perhaps] not been voiced before. Paranoid / ecstatic fantasies prepare to be unbound in my head for the next few days awaiting the 2nd coming and my - almost inevitable - damning.

Seriously...every so often something happens that maks me question my lack of faith.

It is a ridiculous question but completely in keeping with the vilification and hate-filled attacks on those who believe Terri left a long time ago and should be allowed to go to the Lord.

I have never seen an issue with as much vitriol spilled by alledged Christians upon those who understand that there never was a controversy here and the lies spread against MS are revolting. These types of decisions are made and carried out hundreds of times a day in this nation without hysteria or political grandstanding by opportunistic office holders.

He has already sought and received an order from, who else - Greer - that she will be cremated immediately, as I have read.

No.
He has received an order giving him full authority to bury or cremate her as he choses without consideration of her parents, but he has to wait till the Medical Examiner has released the body first.

No one but the Medical Examiner has the authority to release a body for final disposition.

You are right. Too much religious significance. I was reading the other day that Terri is a derivative of the name Tyre in the Bible. Ok I'll get flamed for this...But the person said the Tyre was asking for crumbs from the table. Feeding tubes are crumbs of food mixed with water. Any relevance? I don't know. I guess it's interesting. Read the Bible text and judge for yourself.

Ok be kind when you overwhelm me with your views. Remember, I'm one of YOU

But I thought she wasn't incapacitated? I thought, from Delay and others, that she was capable of speech?

I absolutely agree. Starving anyone to death is wrong - there is no other way that I can look at it. However, for people to blame President Bush and/or Gov. Bush is wrong, IMHO.

I can't believe it, but can't help feeling that we are all witnessing a slow motion murder.

Slow motion and court sanctioned. Very scary.....which group of people will be deemed expendable next?

Hearsay is going to be sufficient to change the bias for treatment of an incapacitated person from life to death.

I can think of an even scarier scenario. What about all those in state run institutions that were born with major defects, or obtained them without ever stating their wishes? Most of the are probably on Medicaid. Why couldn't they ALL be condemned to a slow starvation death by legislation? This would solve Medicaid problems. Then we can go to Medicare and SS.

So is suffocating a person, yet most people say they do not have a problem with removing a respirator.

Are you saying there will be an autopsy? Usually an autopsy is only performed if a person dies from unknown causes, dies alone, or if there is a crime involved.

Oh yes, that's Hillsdale county for you. Come to think of it, it's Lenawee too. They call in "Anyway County" here

Sophistry. She is not operating an optimal level of capacity, namely able to speak for herself. That is not the same as being "brain dead, switch off the life support".

Are you comfortable with the idea of now, if you suffered a stroke and were unable to speak, that your spouse could have the plug pulled merely based on hearsay?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't people on ventilators generally considered brain-dead, that is "legally" dead?
