Michael Schiavo sympathizers: What will you do when Terri dies?
Self

Posted on 03/24/2005 8:34:20 AM PST by ElkGroveDan

I suppose those of you who are siding with Michael Schiavo are feeling smug today.

I have to ask a question that I wanted to ask when little Elian Gonzalez was whisked away to the island gulag. Will you cheer? Will you celebrate?

The reason I ask is that we certainly will celebrate if we win. If Terri is somehow saved from this horror at this the 11th hour, those of us who are fighting for her life will cheer and clap, some of us will cry and many of us will fall to our knees in thanks to Our Lord!

How will you feel if your side wins? What exactly is it that you have won?

How does he know his parents didn't suffer?

I heard some idiot on Laura Ingrams show this morning complaining about the Pope hanging on for so long.

Why am I not surprised? Ain't nothing beyond the Death Cultists?

Michael Schaivo also said his girlfriend has done more for his wife than his mother-in-law has.

I didn't believe it, but someone linked me to the Larry King transcript where the quote appeared.

The guy doesn't need "lies" to look bad. He's looking bad quite well on his own, honestly.

Looks to me like he refused to admit that she was gone even though the doctors told him it was so. If the Lie that he was just a money grubber was true there was NOTHING to prevent him from removing the tube as soon as the settlement money came in.

It was hard to accept my wife's imminent demise too but eventually I had to.

It is also a fact that MS did not make this decision himself but, as a concession to the Schindlers, put it in the hands of an objective third party, the judge.

15 years ago he believed there was hope. After 8 or 9 years, hope disappears.

I was once in the side of those who prefered to simply allow her to die. Unfortunately some pesky little facts kept arising and changed my mind.

All I can say is that it must be awfully hard to breathe with your head where it is.

Wow. Very well said.
Now that the spotlight is finally shining on our legislators, perhaps they will act.
And I can only hope that more people will now pay attention and be more mindful of who they vote into office.

OK, unable to speak, but able to respond in some way - sign language, eyes, pulse.

Terri's eyes have apparently registered a response. In which case, you should not be keen for her to die.

Because if you're a Christian that's where you must think Terri is headed, to a better place where all her trials are ended.

I have no doubt that Terri will go to Heaven. It is however, not our role to make that decision for her as to when she should go. Her husband says she'd want to die. Her parents say she wants to live. A rational society would say, when in doubt, the bias should be life. This case turns that bias on its head. If you can't understand the horrible implications of that bias being overturned, you're beyond help.

Other than that I have to go on doctors testimony and the rulings of judges.

Doctors testimony is conflicting. Rulings of judges - you cannot be serious. If you put your faith in leftist judges, you are on the wrong website.

Due process and states' rights, for two things.

This is supposed to be a nation of laws, not men.

If new laws need to be passed pass them for everyone, not just 'any parent of Terri' - that they were unwilling to do that shows that this is just theater.

I don't think Terri has had 'due process' because she has never had her own attorney.

State's rights are fine but it is well-established that anyone sentenced to death in a state court has a Federal appeal due them. You may argue she wasn't sentenced to death. However, the court has not only ordered the hospice to stop feeding her but also ordered that no one can give her anything--that is a death sentence sure as shit. When my local dog pound decides to put down a pet the papers say that animal got a "death sentence"--I don't see how this is anything less. You say she should be killed without ever having had her own attorney--this is not due process.

Theatre? Maybe, but I doubt it.

However, the rule of law was followed in this case

How can you say the rule of law was obeyed when Terri has never had her own attorney?

Rule of law?? Hasn't Greer acted as Terris atty. for the last few years?

Can you imagine going before a judge and HE is representing you AND passing judgment?

The doctors told MS three years after her collapse not that it takes much discernment even for a layman. And there are not as many saying something different that is another falsehood.

It is not "important" to me that she die. I just do not equate a body functioning autonomically as real life. What could be worse than lying for years without consciousness?

However establishing the precedent of pouring millions into preserving this semblence of life is a certain method to bankrupt the taxpayer. Why are those normally totally opposed to the welfare state so willing to allow the public coffers be looted in this case?

Because he saw what happened.

Of course this doesn't matter to those believing him to be the essence of evil.

He saw what he wanted to see......the man is a monster. Do this to an animal and you could wind up in jail.

I believe him over the others any day having observed how the lies spread here have worked to incite irrationality and hatred.

Not since the Ox Bow Incident have I seen a worse case of Mob Pyschology as here.

I am sure those "facts" haven't a shred of truth in them and thanks for the standard attack on the character of those who are not True Believers. Such DU tactics are sufficient in themselves to cast great doubt on the integrity of the opposition.

Unless you have something that is not laughable it really is of no value. Dogs are routinely put out of their misery everywhere in Vets offices across the land. Terri would have been allowed to complete her death but for the irrational hysteria surrounding this case generated by her parents bringing in the Courts.

You are buying into a pack of lies and allowing you emotions to trump common sense.

Let us say she is PVS, her parents are willing to care for her. If Teri is PVS then she is not suffering 'lying in that state", she does not know the difference.
Her parents and other family members are willing to give up everything to care for her. There are people willing to donate to care.
Your argument that 'the public coffers would be looted' would mean that anyone ... it reminds me of the movie THX1139, the government allocates a certain number of dollars per citizen and when the money is gone the person ceases to exist.
My bottom line is this .. Teri is being starved to death.
