This whole case seems to me like the judicial system was in the pocket of Michael, or he had strings to pull. Just wonder who he really is, anyway.
Being as generous as possible to the judiciary here, I think they've gotten so caught up in scientific testimony that Terri's condition is hopeless that they've forgotten the primary issue they were tasked with deciding--is there clear and convincing evidence that under this circumstances this is what Terri would choose today if she were able.
I think they're substituting their own judgment for hers.
