Woman Mauled by Pit Bull May Lose Arm
QUARTZ HILL — A woman mauled by a neighbor's vicious pit bull may lose her right arm, authorities said.
Kimberly Beatrice, 47, was attacked by the dog in the front yard of her home at 4764 West Avenue L14 at 7:00 p.m., said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Bill Hindman.
A deputy called to help shot the pit bull four times at close range to stop the attack.
The dog fell, then got up and began to approach Beatrice again. A second deputy then fired a single shotgun round that killed the animal, Hindman said.
Beatrice was airlifted to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills where doctors were working to save her right arm, Hindman said.
