ARE YOU READY FOR A $20 MILLION WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT AGAINST MICHAEL SCHIAVO, Does 1-10
the news | 3-22-05 | dfu

Posted on 03/22/2005 8:35:01 AM PST by doug from upland

It appears that Terri Schiavo is going to be starved and dehydrated. I don't see how it going to be stopped short of a kidnapping to save her life.

If we are to believe sworn affidavits, Michael Schiavo denied his beloved wife rehab, speech, and occupational therapy. Terri actually was able to drink from a baby bottle and ate pudding and jello. He threatened to fire a nurse if she got nourishment from anything but the feeding tube?

Why just the feeding tube? Because he could have that pulled and starve her to death. He had no interest in seeing that she learn to eat again.

A nurse has said that Terri was able to say "mommy," "help me," "hi," and express when she was in pain.

Terri is also being denied communion.

Michael thinks it is over when he has managed to starve and dehydrate her to death? No, Michael, I don't think so.

There will be a wrongful death suit filed of perhaps $20 million. The evidence will come out about the denial of rehab. Her broken bones will be investigated. Ultimately, Michael, some of the truth is going to see the light of day. You are not going to get away with it. Not in this life. Not in the next.

Still not giving up here. One time I had an intestinal blockage and was without food or liquid even water for 4 to 5 days. When you pinched my skin it wouldn't go back down in place. You know what I mean. Last time, Terri survived for six long agonizing days. Still praying and believing in miracles here.

I will, if you will admit that YOU are unqualified to assess Terri's communication skills.

But obviously, you cannot admit that. Which is what I pointed out.

You don't like it? You thinking I'm raving because I, with my experience and knowledge base assess Terri as having awareness and some limited, but clear, communication skills remaining?

And please, point out ONE lie I told about you, bless your heart.

I visited and helped when I could. My sister did get some time off. On her 5 acres she had additional extended family there helping. We were blessed that they were able to do it. When my mom was in a care facility for several months here in S. California after the stroke, I visited several times a week. Again, my sister said that she had the ability and willingness to do this. She would not take no for an answer.

Doug, there is no evidence that Terri can eat on her own. After 15 years, you don't think that this is a fact?

"For the life of me, I can't figure out why this nurse waited so long to tell her little story, the timing of the interview was suspicious at the very least."

Her sworn affadavit was before the court, Judge Greer, was apparently ignored.

Yea. Judge Greer and Michael Schiavo get together once a week, have some beers, twirl their moustaches and think up ways to torture Terri. Oy.

Call me cynical, but it occurred to me this morning that if Terri's family gets custody of her, I would expect lawsuits against the hospice, Michael, and the State of Florida.

Regardless of whether Terri lives of dies, I expect her family to cash in.

********************

I guess I would call that a cynical statement.

Is that a quote from St. Jude?"

No. Did you think it was, or are you making the point that I'm a sinner? If so, I admit it, I am a sinner big time. I'm plenty annoyed at the moment. I tend to get that way when people accuse me of "raving."

Any other questions?

Hildy, can't we just all get along? Let's just all go and have a nice lunch somewhere, never mind that Terri can't join us due to those who find the sanctity of life rather inconvenient. OOOPS!, be careful you don't get in a car wreck or something and risk being hospitalized....you might be deprived of YOUR lunch next time....

If Michael S. were telling the truth, WHY WOULD HE BE SO DAD-BLASTED PARANOID about medical professionals having access? About TV coverage? WHY WOULD HE REFUSE TO HAVE PET SCANS? Why wouldn't he go ahead and divorce her? Why wouldn't he let her have therapy or food? WHY would M.S. have plans for IMMEDIATE CREMATION? ...

Hildy, with all due respect, you play right into the hands of the abortion-on-demand and euthanasia crowd when you permit--advocate--somebody getting away with this. The people who back such agendas include history's worst totalitarians. Are you on the same side as Mengele? Is Florida Auschwitz? Is America Stalinist Russia and this now the purge? Are you longing for the charm of Mao's Cultural Revolution? Are you in front of--or atop--the tanks in Tiananmen Square?

I find Proverbs 31:8-9 a guideline for what must be done. Doug has done that here. Some here at FR reject the Bible, that's their prerogative. Others here have other convictions.

The suit against OJ was filed on behalf of OJ's children by his divorced wife's parents and on behalf of the murdered man by his guardian, his father. Different situation.

I know what it's like to take care of a brain-injured individual. I do it every day. My husband is brain-injured. I am also a nurse and KNOW that with THERAPY a lot can be done for a lot of these people; something Terri was denied.

My husband has asked to be cremated. I don't know if the rest of his family knows that. If he dies tomorrow, and his sister said she wanted him in the family burial place, I'd thank her, and then have him cremated.

You and I weren't there. I heard the nurse this morning say that she drank from a baby bottle and ate jello and pudding. Is the nurse perjuring herself? I don't know. I'd like to find out, but it won't help Terri if we have to find out in court a year from now. I agree with the president in erring on the side of life. How would a little more time to gather all the evidence be a problem? It may be too late for any rehab. I don't know. But I would like to know before she dies.

There is no threat expressed or implied in this post.

As for a lawsuit, I was trying to think of a situation wherein the parents sued when a family remember died and the family sued the spouse. The O.J. case was a good one as you posted Doug. I suspect that Laci Peterson's family has a good case too.

At this point, there isn't proof that Michael Schiavo is responsible. But a lawsuit, with detailed, exhaustive depositions may finally uncover what has been suppressed. It could show statements by Michael, adverse actions by him, and conflicts of interest by the people who want her to die. It could show incompetence and negligence on the part of the doctors and medical personnel at the hospice. And if medical records have "disappeared," these people can be subject to "obstruction of justice" charges with this present administration.

None of this will save Terri Schiavo, but a measure of decency and justice can be obtained by exposing the deviousness of the people involved to the whole world, and having that deviousness forever preserved in court papers.

Then why not divorce her and marry his girlfriend, mother of his two children? Why did he stop therapy for her after receiving the malpractice settlement?

Whe was not denied. For years the family and Michael did everything in their power to see if there was hope. When hope was shown to be gone, that is when he took the action he did. You do realize it's been 15 years. This is like Terri Schiavo 101. If you don't know even the basic facts, you really shouldn't be posting.

I know the OJ case was different. It was merely an example to show the potential civil problem Michael is, I believe, likely to have.
