Riding was something I wanted to do yesterday but we had to drain the pool and clean it. It is now refilling and with the temperature in the 90s we should be able to cool off in a few days! : ) We didnt get a chance to winterize it what with deaconjims parents being so poorly, so getting in it to clean it was fear factor for me! I kept thinking maybe a snake had got in there.........Urgh! I am now trying to plan my flower beds around the house, to get it ready to sell. I can't seem to find my favorite bushes and plants though, so will probably have to go with something I dont know too much about. I love Hebes, spirea forest flame, fushias (have only seen them in hanging baskets so far, whereas I used to have 40 year old bushes!). I have found columbines and planted them already. I also have a passion for roses.
One thing that I do find is that i need to be out in the garden either very early or late, otherwise I feel faint with the heat.
The childrens vegetable garden is doing splendid. We have lots of squash, zuccinni, melons, tomatoes and onions growing. I am surprised that the few chickens that I have left, havent touched the garden yet! Well I need to go feed and spend some time with the horses........Catch u later! : D

I am not real familiar with shrubs. I planted some nandina this spring. One Sat. when Mack and I went out on the motorcycle we drove around some of the older big rich neighborhoods in Tulsa, and I saw some tree arrangements that were so pretty, and am trying that. I planted a Japanese Red Maple and a Dogwood. I need one more dogwood but it will have to wait till next year. I have one rose bush, that is suppose to be a climber on my fence around the patio garden. and I have 2 Rose of Sharon bushes in the flower bed in front of the house, that is where the maple and dogwood are too. I planted them last year so they are not real big, and did not bloom last year. They have grown quit a bit this spring, so I'm hoping to get some blooms.

My day lillies bloomed this week, and the rest of the garden is growing good now that we started getting some warmer sunnier days. I didn't get the trellis in the pictures because there really isn't alot to see yet, but my morning glories are finally growing, and are about 1/4 of the way up on one side.

Loading some pictures of the front bed. I don't like to load more then 5 at a time as it takes so long

Ok, here is the front bed. I think next year I'm just going to fill up behind the rocks with a varity of iris. I've got too much to keep weed well. I can add varity and color to this bed by planting some annuals infront of the rocks, The day lillies will add color behind the rocks when the iris are done. I have an iris bed at the side of the house, and they get so thick that I don't have trouble with weeds and grass growing there. The iris will also hide the ugly foundation bricks of the house. But that's all for next year. The dogwood in the foreground

My Red Maple

Rose of Sharon in the foreground, there is another, smaller one at the other end of the rocks. It's smaller because when I planted them last year, for some reason, Grizzly kept pulling that one out of the ground. I've been surprised it came back at all. My son in law dug them up at his parents house for his and Jenny's place. They had some extra so gave them to me. They bloom in the hot summer, so will give me some flowers after the iris are done too.

Impatients, and shade coleus behind the rocks this year. I also dug some spider wart up from out in the woods and planted them among the impatients, they haven't recovered from the shock of transplanting yet tho. They should grow back every year and will add some color to the iris after the iris is done flowering.

sorry for the rambling, I just realy enjoy gardening.
