Do you know the brand?

The thing you have to be careful of is where the leather came from. Alot of the more inexpensive western saddles comes from Mexico, and the leather there is terrible. But of course you would also need to consider the amount of use it's going to get.

Truly, if I was going to get a new saddle, I'd probably go with one of the nylon types, Abetta. They are so durable and easy to clean. They may wear out quicker then a leather, but it would still take years, and they are inexpensive enough that IF you wore one out, you could easily replace it.
