As he brushed and saddled her, I kept a eye on her reactions. She never flinched, shied, or acted in the least bit scared of him. He rode her at walk, trot and canter. It was so funny as this mare hardly makes horse size, and he is over 6 foot tall..lol She did well, but was way too fast at a canter. He had just started her on that. No gaping mouth with a snaffle and backed nicely too. We decided to keep her there for two more weeks. The weather has been so bad here, with lots of rain that she might as well get worked there.
More time is always good if you want to to come home pretty solid. Sometimes the first 30 days they do whatever you ask, emotionally coming to grips with this work stuff. It's sometimes later when they have more confidence that they begin to question whether they really have to behave ;~D
30 days is really a very short time at a trainer, and if you can afford to have her there longer and she seems comfortable, leave her for awhile.
Sounds like a good trainer. I hate people who think they have to beat a horse into submission. Sounds like a good choice to leave her there for a while longer.
