*New* The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Still I can't complain, my friends in England pay over $6 for a gallon.

Hey everyone,
Haven't been around much, my boss has been keeping me busy. I ended up spending the weekend in Boston at a conference. Right now I'm so tired that all I can do is stare at the wall. My brain just can't function anymore! :-)
But the good news is that the weather is absolutely beautiful now. In the 50s and breezy and sunny, though this weekend we had torrental rain. Tonight I heard the peepers for the first time this year. I was so excited!

Good! There's not many people around here today.

I was around all day, just didn't know you all were chatting away in here!

I've been trying to get caught up with work. Still lots to go.

We had every kind of weather today, sun, rain, hail, wind, must be spring!

Our weather was wonderful. I was busy all day outside.

My garden is coming together. I'm very excited about it. Mack said for sure tomorrow we are going to get the camera fixed:).

I rode Harley and Rusty today, they both did great on the cavaletti's. I rode Rusty 15 minutes and he never had a lock up, altho I did see him have a problem in his run running from flies. Which reminds me....I can't believe how bad the flies have gotten literally overnight:(.

Rocky gets rode tomorrow.

We are getting ready to watch 24.

Becky

Hey ladies,

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been ridiculously busy and this week isn't any better.

Winnie is still limping. I may have to take her to one of the specialists in the area to see what we can do. With bute you can't tell there is anything wrong with her but that's a pain as I never know when she's gonna be ridden. I sure hope I can fix this without going the neurectomy route but I'll do whatever I have to do.

Our diesel only good for distance and pulling. When my son went to Japan he sold us his jeep. He's moving back to Washington. He didn't ask but we are letting him have it back. They will need it. We are talking about buying a van or a four door truck (my choice:'). This will be around June though.

The price of gas period!. My ferrier just went up 5 dollars because of gas:'( I'm going to talk with him tomorrow about what he would charge to train. If he says no, my son said he will go to a class in Oklahoma (if I pay for it)

I sure hope you can get her sound.

We just had an impromptu ground manners lesson with Cyn because she ran over us walking with a bucket. She acted like a lamb as soon as we got her halter on. Brat. She knows when she can get away with it and when she can't.

Hey. I rode today. I got kicked today. She didn't mean to but when I switched hands on her back hoof Sarah Lee played hokey pokey and she side swiped my leg. I got her good, in less than 10 seconds but I did waste a couple howling:')

Sorry about Winne. I hope he can help her. Sarah lee was tripping all over the place today but was fine riding. Don't know what was wrong earlier. She almost fell, loping in the round pen.

Yeah we just walked today. The vet said to walk the first week. I may walk two weeks just to be sure. I want to give him every chance to get well. Harley and Rocky I will probably try trotting the second week.

I sure hope it works. How did he feel on the poles? Did you feel like he was really working the hindquarter?

It's fun to just let them play with buckets sometimes.... long as they don't trample you to get at it.

It didn't really feel like it. When I got done riding, I took him over them one more time leading to see how high he was raising his leg, and he was clearing the pole by quite a bit.

I actually set up two sets of cavaletti's, one set on each side of a long straight away. One set had 4 boards the other set had 3 and was made out of my pole bending poles, so they were a tiny bet higher. He bumped them a few times but cleared them the last time.

I watched his stride, he doesn't look like he's short striding to me at all. I sure hope this works.

Hey, I am sorry that I did'nt get by today but we got to working on the water, electric and sewer and then some guys came and finished the siding and the inside while we were working on everything else. We got the electric hooked up, now have to call electric co. and have them come set a meter. I am sorry that I didn't get over there today, but I am trying really hard to get moved sometime this week. And then I also had Marci today. So I was really busy.
I will try amd call you later but I have to final inspection tommorrow on the house and have to finish the water and sewer so I don't know what I will be doing after that.

I grabbed her halter, a lead line and my short whip, and we worked on personal space. And when she invaded mine I nailed her for it hard.

She's funny... she really does have an attitude, but it's easily broken through. As soon as she had the halter on she was really pretty good. I think we'll take the short bat with us when working in the paddock around her for awhile again so we're ready if she pushes it again when she's loose.
